Yo mama is so bad at hockey that she's been a healthy scratch for almost the entire season.

Because yo mama is Kevin Westgarth.

Great game tonight guys, really killed our offensive flow and controlled the crease area well. This was one I thought we shoulda had 2, but we've had our share of luck this season so i won't complain lol. Congrats on a well fought win.

But seriously. During this game I had to explain to my wife what a Staal wrap chance was. I explained he tries it at least once a game and it very rarely works. I explained to her previously that the goalie M T Knett is the toughest goalie we face. It really amused me that Staal tried a wrap chance on M T Knett.

I didn't get to see the game, but to me, Staal getting a wrap chance is a positive sign. Earlier in the season, he wasn't even getting close enough to the net with the puck to even try one.

Eric wasn't great, but he was a step better than he has been for about two weeks. He actually came back and played D, which is a good sign that his head might be back in the game. Same with Semin and Tlusty, who looked incrementally better.

Jordan's line was fantastic. Easily the best they've looked with the puck this year.

I'm not sure what this means for the #1/#2/#3 lines debate :sarcasm:

We have to be setting some sort of record for most time with an empty net without a goal, someone dig some stats up.

Hand-wringing over not hitting empty net goals. The fact that the potential to hit an empty net is even within the realm of possibility at this point is heaven-sent, so why begrudge that it's not happening?

Confirmed. I actually saw him take 4 hard strides in the neutral zone toward the defensive end!

He's hurt. I rarely give him a pass but in this case, I will. It seemed like he was more "into it" last night as well, ex. drawing the penalty at the end.

Couple thoughts:

1. Attendance seems bad this year. Hell even Florida outdrew us, and they were playing Anaheim, hardly a rival or a snowbird draw.
2. When Cam and Anton return, what about Peters? I'm thinking his recent play may result in a waiver claim.
3. Ruutu is terrible.
4. Gerbe is fantastic.
5. And it's no coincidence that our defense is immensely improved since the permanent arrival of Brett freakin Bellemore.
6. I like Chris Terry. He seems to be around the net a lot and he makes things happen when he's out there.

Genuine curiosity about an interesting stat = "hand-wringing", got it.

It has been lower for sure. I'm not TOO worried because it's a mid-week game in the middle of a homestand against a Western team in November. But still, it's pretty obvious that we have a lower "baseline" for attendance than in recent years.

2. When Cam and Anton return, what about Peters? I'm thinking his recent play may result in a waiver claim.

GMs are stupid sometimes. It just might happen. I hope their team enjoys putting five guys in the slot and holding onto leads for dear life.

3. Ruutu is terrible.

Yes. If we have any opportunity whatsoever, we should get rid of him. He is a money sink at this point.

4. Gerbe is fantastic.

Indeed. That Gerbe-Jordan-Dwyer line was really clicking. It allows the wingers to use their speed and tenacity to keep the puck in the zone long enough for Jordan to lumber his way down low and create havoc.

5. And it's no coincidence that our defense is immensely improved since the permanent arrival of Brett freakin Bellemore.

I'd say that is most definitely a coincidence. Hainsey has been covering Bellemore's ass pretty well. The defensive improvement coincides with the arrival of Manny Malhotra, who took 20 draws and won 15 of them, and checked Duchene cleanly off the puck at one point. We are now capable of rolling 4 legitimate lines, with Malhotra jumping in situationally to take draws on other lines, and everyone including the TEA line has committed to backchecking and making shorter passes to get the puck out. Muller can say whatever he wants about the system not changing, but the scheme is visibly different than it was before the goalies went down.
