Hopefully Avs can win this round and get JD back

I dont want to crash the party, but i highly doubt Drouin will be back for a possible Round 2 either...

Mac is MVP. He should and will get it done without Drouin. There is still enough quality at the wings.. Lehky, Nuke, Rants (if he ever gets going :D)

Sucks to lose Jonathan who was playing on a heater, but it is what it is...

I'd expect a minimum 3 weeks, but probably 4 for Drouin. That puts him between May 9-16... Which could be the start of round 2 upto game 3 or 4.

We don't even know the extent of Drouin's injury, only that they ruled him out for this entire series (no matter how long it lasts). Not sure if we should be expecting him back in Round 2 at this point. If anything, the Avs announcing that Drouin would miss the entirety of Round 1 should indicate that it's more likely than not that he misses Round 2 (if they make it).
I mean the longest a round can last is 7 games and maybe that’s what they put the timeline at for JD. If Avs somehow win this round in 5, JD maybe misses like one more game in the 2 round depending when 2nd round starts or maybe he’s back in the 2nd round.

Honestly, Mack looks like he's missing Drouin.
Definitely. How many times has MacKinnon been given the puck with speed flying down the ice from Parise or Rantanen? Drouin was doing that on a routine basis.

Teams know to pressure the wings because they aren't great in-tight passers like Drouin is.

He needs to get out of his own head, though. Yeah Lowry is great defensively but MacKinnon a lot of shifts has looked scared to go into corners and engage physically. Not asking him to hit but don't give up pucks because of a worry about getting hit. Everyone gets hit. Duhaime made it a point to target Ehlers every shift. Manson almost decapitated Neiderreiter.

At home he better shape up because depth scoring won't be there EVERY game.

Drouin was indeed doing this all the time and it's no stranger to Mack's success.

If anything this makes me realize even more that we need to find a way to keep JD.

The boys seemed incredibly happy for him last night. If those guys putting it all on the line can move past his trash game 1 and be there for him, can't we as fans?
Oh, I know. And my boy Manson is much better man than I.

I was quite critical of Georgiev after Game 1. Props to you for a rock solid Game 2. Keep it up and the Avs will make a deep playoff run!

Lots of internet doctors in here.

Weren’t you saying our season will be over in 4 games anyways? So who cares when he is healthy right?

First time I've felt since 2022 where our offense can finally roll 4 lines. If we could just get healthier, then it'll be lights out. The bottom six guys so far have been relentless on the forecheck. If there not contributing on the scoreboards, they're at least causing havoc out there and laying into the opponent. So freaking refreshing! No more tweeners like Meyers, Nieto, Newhook, and Malgin doing nothing come playoff time.

Cmac deserves a ton of credit. The amount of turnover he had to do to fix the bottom 9 forwards is really remarkable in just one year.

Yeah they have a legit 2nd line that can shut down a top line now, so the bottom 6 lines can actually be used as bottom 6 lines. Colton and Wood are simply chaos machines if they had to be a matchup line it would be a total disaster... but if you ask them to match against a middle 6 line and just play simple, gay porn hard hockey, they can be hugely impactful. Then you have another chaos machine line that has the skating to do it for 10-12 minutes. There will be a point where Colton/Wood/Duhaime does something insanely dumb and takes a major penalty for going too far... it may cost a game, but that will be out weighted by the contributions elsewhere. Just getting one line right, letting the 3rd line be a 3rd line, and some tweaks on the 4th makes the forwards incredibly tough to deal with.

Girard definitely should go before Manson. This team needs his big dick energy in playoff series.
Was thinking last night, while watching the game, that they could absolutely use another guy like Manz for the 3rd pairing. Losing EJ this year, and JMFJ here likely after this year, all they will have is a bunch of small-ish guys.
