Rod’s approach is right for most of the season but….it’s very important to have some tough guys on the roster too that will protect your skill guys and add grit.

Domi was not the right guy to add to the roster.

I wouldn’t re sign Trochek.

Btw: No team has won the cup in the last 40 years without that.
I wouldn't resign Tro, I would let Smith and Cole walk, I'd look to trade Bear away and I'd be rotating Martinook as the healthy scratch next year. Oh and I'd also stop playing musical f***ing chairs with the lines all season long. Because of that insanity, outside of the Staal line which has remained the same all year, we have an entire team of players with zero chemistry going into the playoffs. f***ing brilliant

Durm
Our defense collapsed this year and it's very much on the backs of those 3 just absolutely shitting themselves after the All Star break.
Actually, it should be on the backs of the guys in scouting and the front office that thought they were what we needed. None of them are playing any different then they played the last couple of years. Expecting them to be different here was the problem.

Because he’s useful. Bear is not.
Foegele is just as useless as Bear and more expensive

Foegele isn’t a 3LW or a 2LW. We would be talking about needing a 2LW with him here and someone else would be taking up cap as the 3RD. Who knows if they would be useful

Canes post game production is just brutally bad. Why can’t they allow the viewers to hear the questions? Wtf is that whooshing sound.

Btw: Rod negative on Freddie.

yes Cole and Bear must go , lets start building for 2023-24 when both andersen and raanta , gardiner are off the sheets , would maybe keep Raanta as a backup , Andersen reminds me Of Carey Price , Overated ! But It would do him some good to take time off , hope his injury (Andersen) isnt that bad , just must a week or 2 lets bring up Pyort or Eetu not friggin Lyons and i wish the best of luck to Lafontaine but i do never want to see him play for Carolina , (dont get mad at me , The Canes and some fans gave up on Ned so im allowed to crap on Jack)
worst thing is i think we lost the William Jennings Trophy

I've seen a few posts talking about the makeup of this team. I was wondering what thoughts were as to who bears the responsibility of some of the off season and the one deadline acquisition? It's something that I've often thought about

I've thought of Bear as a Tulsky swing and a miss, although I think Cole is about the absolute worst partner he could have, to me their playing styles are too different. I honestly think given the right partner and coaching or system Bear might actually make a decent middle six, or great bottom pairing defenseman.

Tony D was to me was a Tulsky grand slam. As much as I disliked the signing for personal reasons, his play has worked out phenomenal. I still don't think he's capable of playing first pair on a championship team, and would much rather of had Dougie but not at his price. Tony D is reminds me a lot of JML, good middle or great bottom pairing guy who's going to absolutely feast on a team with a decent pp.

Smith and Cole seem like total Roddy and or Waddell players, old school hockyman type of guys. Same goes for Domi, I just can't see Tulsky wanting to go after any of these players.

Anyway, I'm high as a freaking kite rambling on about the stupid stuff I think about when this team lays a huge stinker. And how the Borg approach to the GMing of this team doesn't give me a person to be mad at.

And can they for the love of God, Allah, Buddha, Zeus, Mother Earth or whatever your personal chosen deity keep Martinook away from the top 6. I really wish a reporter would flat out ask Rod what is the thought process of putting a below replacement level, barely NHL 4th line player on the top line. Like why are they still doing this? Why did they split up Turbo and Aho again?

Contractual value is our management’s motto. For every good move we have Gardiner, Dzingel, etc. we also wont pay premium prices for guys who will spend the majority of the contract in their thirties.

Chatfield is useful. He can play defense and is a bit physical. And cheaper than Bear.
That wasn’t known until well into the season and Chatfield getting 60% O zone starts. There is no way Chatfield would have been pencilled in as a starter, day 1.

And yet Brind'Amour is the coach obsessed with playing both Bear and Martinook on the top lines, doing very much the opposite of hiding them
Borg made several roster mistakes this year, particularly on D but also at forward.

D bottom 3 are awful. Bear, Cole (mr penalty and doesn’t hit enough) and Smith (although physical and has stepped up numerous times this year is too slow) had been playing forward 1/2 the time for rangers in previous years.

Svech is the only guy that truly throws his weight around.

Martinook is no longer as physical as he once was. He never was fast and IMO is past his sale date and shouldn’t be playing

Lorentz is big but plays soft. Nino big but is not tough whereby other teams players are afraid of him.

Domi & Tro (another penalty machine) are useless.

Roster will need a big revamp in the off season.
