I agree, but I think if they practiced OT more they'd be better at it. They're unfamiliar with it and it impacts how they play.

I don't think players with the skill of MacKinnon, Rantanen, Makar, Girard, Barrie, etc, should have problems playing a possession game in OT if they're practicing it.
All of those guys can skate extremely well, and hang onto the puck for as long as they like. Even Landy has an underrated possession game. Burakovsky too.
What they end up doing though is hanging onto the puck until they turn it over, or take a low percentage chance. Then they make a bad line change and give up an odd man rush. These are signs to me that they don't practice it as much as they should.

Kerfoot is a perfect top 6er for Ottawa or Detroit. That's probably where's going.

Yeah, but neither of those teams is going to pay futures to get him. If he ends up there, it will be Wilson to the Avs for a 4th all over again where the acquiring team gets an overpaid player for next to nothing.

Which honestly might not be horrible for Toronto. Sucks to lose a player for nothing, but they need cap space baaaddd.

Oh yeah, that's the best case scenario for sure. The fans though, who think Kerfoot is netting them a 2nd + a B prospect... They're gonna lose their minds.

Yeah I'm assuming his fancy stats are good like usual, so that should help his value a bit, but I feel like a 3rd is the best they could get for him. The Wilson trade is actually a really good comparable.

Yeah. Like Wilson, Kerfoot is a fine enough NHL player who is very overpaid. Somebody with lots of cap space could acquire a useful player for dirt cheap, and the Leafs/Predators shed salary. Win-win trade.

Im still disappointed Rosen never worked out. I don't know if he was given enough of a run out to be honest. He had spurts of good play. He had good tools. Maybe he needed more time or perhaps he'll never put it together.

Meh. He was an alright puck mover who wasn't that great anywhere else. Plus he was 25 so I can't imagine there would be much more growth out of him.
He's 26, chances are slim that he's going to be much more than he already is, which is a really good AHL defenseman. He did what was asked of him when the Avs started to suffer some real depth issues due to injuries.
I keep forgetting I'm still following the Instagram account of his Labradoodle.

At the NHL level we're pretty deep at LHD, but once Byram and Timmins graduate (which will likely be next season) our only young D prospects are Zhuravlyov and Helleson so we could do with topping up that depth a bit to give us more chances of developing NHL Dmen who can fill out the bottom pairing on ELC's going forward.

They have only seen one year of Kerfoot so far. Keep in mind that our fanbase was OK with Kerfoot after the first year...it's during the 2nd year that he started getting on our nerves and in the playoffs all hell broke loose.
I hope Kerfoot stays in Toronto at least one more year just for HF entertainment.

I remember getting roasted for not believing in Kerfoot that summer. Good times.

Kerfoot had a hot start last year (18 points in 23 games), but he fell off the rest of the season and only reached the 40+ point mark after a hot finish (8 pts in final 8 games).
I haven't watched him at all this year in Toronto, but I'm actually impressed with his 28 points in 65 games considering he only has (3) power play points. He had no less than 16 PPP in both of his seasons in Colorado.

The only reason why some Avs fans might have been Ok with Kerfoot in his first year was because we virtually had a non-existent 2nd line at the time. Kerfoot was basically better than having nothing, and also had some goodwill from the fact that he signed with us as a college free agent. We also weren't expected to be playoff team that year either. Once we started being competitive in 18/19 though that's when his shortcomings became more frustrating to put up with.

The expectations for the entire team in 17/18 were "let's try to finish bottom five this time instead of dead last". Kerfoot was certainly a breath of fresh air after Rene Bourque. He was also a free asset who was a new face on a team that exceeded our wildest dreams by making the playoffs, so some of those good feelings rubbed off on him.
I mean, it also probably had something to do with the fact that both years he was here he was a 40 point player on a nice ELC contract.
