Not sure why any team would want Lindgren. But then again, the Avs saw that Necas would be a fit and that’s worked out. Maybe they see there’s a system fit for Lindgren to get him back to being the decent player he was a couple years ago.
He’s also 27, so fairly young for a pending Ufa and makes their core moving forward younger like necas, not that he’s a core piece but their ages, like drury, Necas, Blackwood, and Lindgren will extend their window of contention. They are a pretty young team.

This year Colorado feels like the guy on the video games that is new to GM mode, makes a ton of trades that all have questionable value, and then finds out they have nothing left to trade away and the team isn't any better.

So can anyone explain why from either side? Everyone is saying all these players are shit.

So is it a bunch of crap moving and then Rangers get free draft picks?
At least from Colorado, they really only have 3 Dmen they can play right now. Grinding Makar/Toews/Girard into dust. Manson is often hurt and declining rapidly. They played their bottom 3 defenders less than 14 minutes last night and I think it was even less than that the game before.

Basically just moving picks to get someone they hope can play more than 15 minutes a night.

You know, Drury isn't a good GM because he doesn't really have a consistent and coherent plan, but every once in a while the dude will come up with a really solid trade.

What the f*** was Colorado thinking here?

Sellers market and every reasonable rental's ask is a 1st+

Colorado is in a wildcard spot, worth buying to try and maintain that, but it's not a year where they sell the farm.

I think folks are not reading this deal correctly. It’s actually a very good deal for Colorado.

Lindgren - he was asked to play 1st pair minutes with Fox but that is not the right position for him. He can’t handle 20+ minutes and that’s why he was always injured. He plays physical but is not that big so he was getting destroyed playing 20+ minutes.

In Colorado he can play 15 minutes on the 3rd pair and do very well I think.

Vesey and Parsinnen are about equal

De Haan sucks

We'll see. The picks feel like quite a bit given up by the Avs.

Definitely think Lindgren will look better in a reduced role with the Avs and he's still going to be an upgrade over CDH who might be the worst player in the league this year.... But yeah, Rangers probably did quite well to get a 2nd out of this honestly.
CMac has always liked Ryan Lindgren. Cmac is from NY and he knows Sam Rosen very well. The Rangers played the Avs in Colorado last season or two years ago. Rosen said it was nice to visit with the Avs GM in between periods and Rosen said MacFarland mentioned Lindgren is a throw back to the old NHL days. Plays hard and competes hard. No surprise the Avs acquired Lindgren.

The 2nd round pick will most likely be the Rangers pick which Drury traded to Arizona in the Nemeth trade to dump the contract.

Lindgren gets one game away from Fox and looks so good a contender trades for him
Fox was making him look bad.

This is an interesting change-of-scenery trade for Colorado. Lindgren used to be a really solid defensive D, but injuries and general overuse have taken a toll on him even though he only just turned 27. I'll be curious to see if his game improves back to a certain level when given bottom-pair minutes rather than being tied to Fox's hip. Vesey could also be a better fit for a 4th liner's game than Parssinen is.

Lindgren is a great shutdown dman who has been carrying the most overrated defenseman in the NHL (Fox) for years. We saw how abysmal Fox looked without him at the 4 Nations after all his ardent defenders claimed he would be "unleashed" without Lindgren, and then Lindgren has looked dominant without Fox after he got injured. Lindgren is a great skater, is physical, great at breaking up plays, and is one of the toughest players I've ever seen. If he can make Adam Fox look like a star defenseman, imagine him with Cale Makar.

Stop it, you're giving me hope :sarcasm:

Please, if they put him next to Cale Makar it's going to be the most deliberate effort to sabotage Makar's Norris chances in history

And this right here folks, is why nobody on the NYR board takes what Ed says seriously.

Sure, possibly. We’ve had our share of “Stupid trade, Avs lol!” in the past so I’ll wait to see him in another uni before definitively stating a change of scenery can’t benefit him.
He's cooked. Lot of miles on his tires. It's not a head thing. It's not a heart thing. It's an everything else thing.
