Confirmed with Link: [Col/Chi/Car] Rantanen (50% by Chicago), Hall, Nils Juntorp to Car - Drury, Necas, 2nd, 4th to Avs, 3rd round pick to Chicago

Watched the TNT pre-game the other night. Some interesting takes:

“Ace” (who I find to be an egotistical arse) said he was at the garden and saw MW sighing and disgruntled on the bench. Nice take one game in.

Armstrong said MR will have a hard time adjusting to Canes style of play.

Net, net they weren’t that positive in the addition for the Canes.

I like the TNT guys and their segments well enough but I'm not exactly going to them for hard hitting analysis on the Canes. Also, I'm not really going to waste a lot of time psycho analyzing what Rantanen is going through or looking at his body language or whatever. It's only natural that he might still be running through any number of different emotions and mental states after what just happened. It would take me quite a bit of time to look and feel normal in a new situation that was completely unexpected. Just like I saw I think on Reddit some fans say that he wasn't interested in all the doings at some event last night with fans. He's probably got a shit ton of stuff going on to figure life out around here and gets thrown into something that quick, I don't blame him for not being fully locked in. Just needs some time.

As for the system fit, I think there are elements to his game that will fit very well. I'm also encouraged that the line with Guentzel on it last year was able to play a bit more of a free flowing and transition game at times as long as they hit the main points of the system coming back defensively and when the forecheck was involved. I think the biggest thing at this point is getting the PP figured out with him, but that was something that needed figuring out for the last month or whatever anyway. Just a continuation of that.

With all due respect, I trust Tulsky more than TNT analysts determine who is and is not a good fit for the Canes.

Biz spent a lot of time talking about how Rantanen was foolish for trying to get more money rather than just being happy playing alongside MacKinnon

geez...what a shitty and lazy take...focus on the statements if you are ignorant of TNT's announcing team.

A simple google page result (thanks for wasting my time)...now you can go figure out who is "Ace":

I mean that's nice and all, but to echo what others are saying, who the hell is MW?

And assuming you mean MR, its amazing how many are able to make absolute definitive hard line factual statements after 2 games. Hell, Kotkaniemi has scored in what, 3 games in a row? He must be a PPG player in this league, no? Oh, and Necas really kept up his scoring pace from the first 2 months of the season, right?

I mean, just the part about him being sulky on the bench. I don’t know who they thought this guy was but his attitude seems pretty normal compared to every other time I’ve seen him.

Sulky and talking to himself, the horror!

I bet every single hockey player out there talks to himself on the bench every game. Especially in a game where the team blows a 2-0 first period lead against a team like the Isles, let alone that happening only a couple hours after you fly in after being traded from the only NHL team you've ever played for.

lol I have bad eyesight and didn’t catch the MW versus MR mistake

Nice piece by Cory:

Love the frankness from KK re: being traded

exactly. that poster is a dickhead
Perhaps but your ignorance of the national broadcast team and my having to spoon feed you like a child tells me how limited you are. I made a post with a typo. Get old with bad eyesight and you’ll see.

btw Your comments on the first post focusing on a nickname versus the core comments reminds me of idiocy of Captain Queeg in the Caine Mutiny.

To close, this dickhead says blank off.

People are quick to point out how Necas will thrive in Colorado’s system, but Rantanen’s strengths are tailor made for our cycle game. The dude simply cannot be bumped off the puck and seemingly has all the time he wants with it in the offensive zone. His play making and finishing ability in tight spaces is elite and you can see the flashes of how he can put a puck perfectly on a teammate’s blade through traffic just as well as he can pick a corner from a bad angle through traffic. Obviously we’ll miss the way Necas can make something out of nothing in transition, but Rantanen’s ability to really pin a team in and wear them down until he or a teammate breaks loose in the slot will be invaluable come playoff time.

Totally this. I've watched three Colorado games with Necas and to me he seems like the same hero puck player in a more freewheeling offense. When the room to do that goes away in the playoffs, I think we'll really see how we won this trade
