His point production has been shockingly bad. I think he is still capable of being a top point producing winger on the right team.

Actually he has been playing well. A lot better than with the Avs this season. Points will come and his shooting percent will not stay at ~5%.
You're not wrong about Mikko's play. Been digging into it and he's a lot more engaged in three zones right now than he had been here for quite some time. His xGF% has actually taken a substantial step up in Carolina (small sample size I know). So while the offense isn't there, he seems to be doing more now to contribute in other areas. And as you said, a 5% shooting percentage is not going to be sustainable for the Moose. I honestly think a lot of that has to do with how honestly he was caught off guard by the trade. I think it rattled the dude and while he's putting in the effort, I'm not sure he's feeling "at home" yet.
I wonder if anyone is able to pull the data to see the distance where his shots are coming from. His shooting percentage is down, but is everything else static?
