Confirmed with Link: [COL, CAR, CHI] Rantanen-Hall to CAR, Necas-Drury-25 2nd-26 4th to COL, Chi 25 3rd to Chi (Ret 50% on Mikko)

Lehkonen-MacKinnon-Necas… the top line in the NHL in Expected Goals per 60 minutes.

The only line over 5 expected goals per f***ing game.

They also lead in shot attempts per 60 minutes.

Pretty much any offensive stat per 60 minutes they are 1st in the NHL.

Not bad, yeah?

So what I take from this is that any line MacK is on is a top 20 line in the NHL lol. Those are nutty numbers for that Lehky-MacK-Necas unit.

lol wow, I had to google that to see for myself. I have a buddy who is about my age (40) and prematurely grey as well, but the rest of his body and face still look 40. Frank the tank here looks like he fought in Nam. So wild.
Steve Martin has looked the same age for 50 years. Sometimes you have to see how shaggy his haircut is to get a time period.

J.G Pageau has no f***ing business being on a line that good.

Yes for better or for worse, that's why they won't get split up. The thing I find funny about this is that Nate alone passes up 2-3 good looks/game.
I know I said this, and it may be counter-intuitive, but honestly these numbers would give me more reason to try Necas at C or on line 2 before the deadline.

You know you have a lethal combo you can load up when needed, or as a fallback plan. It's time to try your shiny new toy with other options before playoff time to see what else you can spark - especially because you already know MacKinnon will also produce with Drouin and/or Nuke on his flanks.

It's great that your top line is lethal. It's a problem when 3/4 of your other lines aren't producing anything.

I'm hoping they were just waiting to have enough top six wingers to make it worth trying.

I know he hates Mitts now, but Bednar as a coach who's duty is to maximize the production of his roster surely has to have considered putting Necas with Mitts just to see if it can spark him (even if its to boost Mitts' trade value).

mitts is slow but can probably thread it to Necas for some great offensive looks, especially since necas can drive the play.

id like to see him try it for two games with no shuffling just glue them together for a bit and then if it can't even work with Necas then Mitts is truly lost and needs to go.

but it's hard to see a scenario in which Mitts is traded without even trying that combo.

Nate will produce with anyone.

just try for 2-3 games

lekhy/drouin - mack - nuke (when he's back)
lekhy/drouin - mitts - necas

see what happens

Nate showing up three separate times with five different wingers like a boss.

If Beds were mandated to do this, that would just mean Necas plays 8-9 minutes of ES time, and gets some boosts through PP time.

Once Nuke comes back the Avs more than enough to build two solid scoring lines. Bednar probably just can't help himself though and stacks everything to the top line as usual.

I doubt he changes the top line at this point. They’ve been too good.

Lehk - Mack - Necas
Drouin - Mitts - Nuke
Colton - Drury - Wood
Kivi - Kelly - LOC
Parsnip

I would argue it's more beneficial to have two consistent scoring lines than one.

Mack and Necas can drive lines and nobody else. They both are almost automatic zone entries as well so having them on seperate lines would mean fairly consistent o zone pressure.

He does love overloading one line and riding them until they are gassed.

Necas was around top 10 in league scoring for Carolina. Not that offense friendly system with Kotkaniemi and Eric Robinson as his most common line. Surely it's worth a shot.

IMO if Drouin would have been 100% healthy Bednar would have used the "2nd" line more lately even though he doesn't trust Mitts and Parsy that much.

Is Jack Drury the quickest acquisition to gain full trust and confidence from Bednar?

Obviously a star like Marty Necas jumps in and delivers right away, but usually a role player takes more time.

I go back to the Flyers game where Drury was sitting on the bench, one leg over the boards, staring intently at Bednar as the refs were checking to see whether the faceoff would be in our zone or outside the zone. As soon as it was confirmed as being in our zone, Bednar gave him the nod and he hopped over. Colton and Wood weren't even looking at Bednar and jumped up to get on when they saw Drury go.

Drury seems to be an extremely high IQ, coach's player type guy.

With almost no practice time after the trade, as we were on the road and had travel days, he immediately gained Bednar's full trust. Really impressive.

This is why I say if he had wingers that didn't look like they were playing their way off the team he might have more points.

I think last game he got LOC for a bit. LOC and Drury both had 15+ minutes, but I don't know if that was just because of the PK.

Imagine if Landy comes back and lines up on Jack's wing. F*** me the smarts on that line.
