Apparently it is hard to understand, because nobody with any sense of mind thought Byram was the better player after the season he was putting together in Colorado.The teams made the trade knowing Byram was the better player but one concussion away from losing large chunks of his career.
Not that difficult to understand.
He might end up the better player, the upside to be a Top pairing guy is there. But based on each guys play this season pre-trade, Colorado was getting the better player while Buffalo was hoping to cash in on Byrams upside. So far it looks like a great bet for them to make. But we're 3 games in... Probably gonna need about 300 more games quite frankly to really decide either way.
I dont think the injury aspect played a role at all quite frankly. Byram hasn't really had an injury issue in over a year now, and nothing concussion related in 2 years if I think.
