And not killing them. Pickard got lit up and was pulled the night before, and once the Kings went up 2-0 they never kept pushing like SJ did.
And a stat nobody should be proud of, the Kings have lost 4 games when leading after the 2nd. All 4 have the same MO, had a lead and chances to put the game away and failed to do it.
Pickard got lit up because he was forced to play with flu-like symptoms. Obviously he was feeling better last night but hopefully this helps to show he's no ordinary "AHL goalie" like I see him referred to as so often around HF. There's something special about him and I've noticed it since his Seattle days.
He's got some very good potential and pedigree but come on, chest thumping over a one game sample size on the Kings forum is just poor form.
"yeah he was sick the night before but oh ho, showed YOU guys!"
Here's a plot twist--maybe he's getting called an AHL goalie not because he's terrible but because outside of 25 NHL games since being drafted 6 years ago, he's been an AHL goalie.
I'm not doing it over one game. Look at his numbers from his stint between November and December last season or better yet watch the highlights. He absolutely stole games. The Avalanche could have easily gone 0-12 but he kept them in it. If Roykic didn't trade and extend Berra prematurely Pickard would be #2.
Edit: My eyes are a little blurry right now and didn't read your post well the first time but I lurk all forums. I'm not a "regular" on any. I actually grew up in LA (Torrance) and played for the Jr Kings I'm not trying to pour salt on any wound.
