Loved Lucic's system punch at the ref.

And ****ing LOL at Pierre's comment - "And McLeod won't back down he's a real rugged customer."

He continued...

"I saw him play Major junior hockey in the Western Hockey League for the Moose Jaw Maniacs. Boy did he personify that name. After this real tough game between the Maniacs and Kootenay Ice, where the Maniacs edged them 4-3 in 4OT, the team was celebrating in the locker room. Someone brought in some snacks among which was a jar of pickles. No one could open that jar of pickles. I'll tell you what, that was the most tenacious jar I've ever seen. It reminded me of a young Bob Probert if he was a pickle jar. Now where was I? Ah yes, that jar. Well, just as I suspected, McLeod comes barreling into the locker room and declares, 'No pickle jar has ever beat McLeod and this one isn't gonna be the first.' This was a real down and dirty scrap between two rugged customers. McLeod ultimately won by breaking the jar over Blair Atcheynum's duffle bag. Atcheynum, now that was a serious fella. Those were good pickles after your picked the glass shards out of them. Guess you had to be there."

This team has a lot of soul searching to do over the break. No excuses. If they blow a ten point division lead, they deserve nothing in the postseason.

I don't get it.

5-5-1 since a 5-0 record at the turn of the year. 25GF, 29GA. 3-3-1 at home. 4-5 in regulation. Didn't end January all that well at 1-3. Not a great effort against Minnesota, or Arizona. Barely ended up with 1 point, let alone 2, in SJ. A lost 3rd period lead at home against Colorado. Minnesota on a back to back. The Kings had 2 days while the Avs played last night.

What's done is done. Two big division games after the break in Arizona, and at home against the Ducks. Then a 7 game road trip. Those next 9 games are the big ones, not the previous 11.

A familiar Kings story against the Avs this year. Outshot them 109-75, but outscored by them 9-6. Gave up 4 goals twice, and scored more than 2 goals only once. A lot like the story against the Coyotes this year, or the Flames last year. The Avs were 5/17 on the PP, while the Kings were 1/14.

If you had said the Kings were 7 points up for the division lead at the all-star break before the season, we take it. 5th best record, tied for 4th overall in points%. Big picture, few complaints. It's always the devil in some of the details that gets you.

Reminded of the game against the Sens. Hopefully, it's only fatigue and the all-star break will help, cause the other teams are catching up. I haven't been impressed by how they played lately.

The most exciting Kings hockey this year was when Carter was injured lol.

Ottawa x 2, Minnesota, Arizona x 3 or 4, Colorado x2. Can't lose to these teams.

The cushion isn't that big kings. Getting smaller by the day now.

LA has looked dominant even in some of those loses but the lack of a complete 60 minutes has been frustrating.

Quick let in a couple soft goals and that was the difference last night.

Not worried about missing the playoffs but it's going to be a dog fight. Especially with all the divisional games coming up on the back end.

I thin it will be better if LA is pushed to win the division opposed to backing into the playoffs and then trying to turn it on.
Need to be going on all cylinders come playoff time.

Pearson looked alot better last night. Brown did in the first but then thought about how hellish the next four days of his life are going to be

Agreed, better to have some cushion than none at least. nice not having to come from behind and make up ground. Still, hope they are not complacent about it.

Huh? Why?

Trap Game, but I'm not worried. Kings usually turn it on in February, and this will serve as a wake-up call I think.

problem with that theory is, kings usually aren't in first place either

so i doubt past behaviors are any indication of what's going to happen for the kings the next few months, we've entered an unknown territory

The kings were up 3 to 2 in the 2nd, and I just new they were going to lose the game. Colorado wanted it more than the kings, and the power play stunk. Jeff Carter has been M.I.A since coming back from his injury.

While it sucks losing to bad teams, one of the biggest trends over the past couple of years is that every singe team gets up to play us as if it's a Playoff game. That means our boys have a war agaist every single opponent and it's why we rarely have an easy, slam dunk win agaist even the worst of teams. Just look at how every goal scored on us is celebrated. It's as if it was an important Playoff goal. Look at how their fans react when they win. They troll our board and beat their chests and the classy fans all of a sudden look at their "garbage team" through a different lens as if maybe deep down there is something in that team that could contend with just a few tweaks.

While there is no excuse to piss away points like we did last night, its easier to understand how it keeps happening. The Kings don't take the bad teams seriously, or play just 20 solid minutes against them, and then they coast. It's a recipe for failure. I'm interested to see what we do after the break now that our lead has shrunk.
