we're better off without him. For some reason refs around the league have a hard on for him and he can't even touch another player without getting a 10 minute misconduct.I love how the only guy who got shafted with ice-time was Lemieux and nobody has mentioned him once.

I really wanted Laviolette.
He brought 3 different teams to the finals.
Maybe we get lucky and Q bails on FL?

what I want from a group of young talent to be is aggressive.
Dictate the pace of play.
Attack the puck, relentlessly.
Take away space and time.
Our puck support in our defensive zone is weak IMO due to our centers skill/style/experience and some bad defenseman.
Use the center of the ice for outlet transition.
We have talent to be a possession team.
We do not have the lineup for dump and chase.
Using the boards/glass way too often instead of having possession out of, and into the zone.
Give up the neutral zone/blue line too easily
Allow the opposing team to do whatever they want
When we're playing well, we do most of these things. I haven't seen it though, for nearly a year.

If we're going to have a coaching think tank, maybe it should involve people that actually understand how TOI can get impacted by players in a game where there's 8 penalties

Please do begin. Because every website that tracks playing time uses TOI as the total time. EV TOI for Even Strength, PP TOI for Power play, PK TOI for Penalty kill. So please sir, begin.

5v5 TOI/usage/stats/etc. is wayyyyyyy5yyyyyy wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy more telling/impactful/important/etc. about a player than v5+special teams+EV TOI.
That's really all you need to know. Every *useful* website will include filters for 5v5 TOI, and realistically should be a default TOI look because that makes up the vast majority of a players TOI. EV is 5v5, 4v4, 3v3, and 6v5 TOI...and that all leads to incredibly weird sample sizes and affects total TOI stats adversely.
Sorry if it came off rude initially. Fine line between ignorant or genuinely doesn't know nowadays. Generally it's the former.
Honestly I'm not even sure I can label the system I would like to see deployed as it comes from multiple coaches.
I like Torts/Trotz defense, Laviolette/Quenville transition and Keenan/AV in the offensive zone.
I like when a winger is sent in to immediately to blast an opposing dman followed by the second winger who blasts his dman, center carries the puck.
Dump and chase unless the opportunity is there for a passing play.
This wears down the opposing D over the course of a game and especially a playoff series.
Hit their D every chance you get!
Defense..Stand up at the blue line if possible.
Keep everything to the outside and cutoff passing lanes.
Get in their face and force them to make bad decisions.
collapse around the net and shut it down.
Zone D or box +1 unless you have a weak opponent then man on man.
Make Trouba and Lindgren a thing.
Lindgren is the only one that can hang in that #2 spot at the moment.
I want an aggressive PK where you force their play and if you have to block a shot as a last resort..Then block a shot!
