Personally I’d just trade him.The guy had 60 points last season…. That’s the reason. He is the only D with some NHL experience (Savard is on the downhill side of the mountain).

No, Matheson was annointed the #1D by management when they acquired him and until he's gone nothing the kids will do with change that. The guy had 60 points last season…. That’s the reason. He is the only D with some NHL experience (Savard is on the downhill side of the mountain).
He ripped them in the press conference.
No it’s not. It’s all he said throughout the entire press conference. It was clearly a dary aimed straight at the refs.« Ripped » is a big words for saying « im not talking about the refs »
That a soft statement.

Fair enoughWell i don’t agree. It was soft. Take the fine and say it like it is or instead of chewing your gum during the game, ripped them appart live there. It’s good to defend your players sometimes.

Even that's too soft. I would have gone full Playfair and thrown shit on the ice and got myself ejected.
I’m not sure what you’re talking about here.
MSL had really good success developing players coming into this season. There was a really positive vibe and most people thought we’d be better than last year.
Yes, this year’s been a disaster for the most part but the team is slowly improving. I hardly think he should’ve been fired a quarter way into the season.
I mean look at Therrien he was here for years and destroyed the fabric of our club. THAT was nepotism. MSL has earned some slack.
One guy had Carey Price the other didn’t. Therrien inherited a team that was on the cusp of contending and promptly ran it into the ground. Completely different situations.
MSL has already shown he can help develop players - Therrien was great at destroying prospects. It’s not even in the same ballpark.
I thought so too. Then he turned around Caufield. Did great work with our younger players. Coming into this season almost all our prospects had improved. He did a great job on that front. And then this season started…So people expected us to be better this year: we aren't.
Players are progressing: Many took a step back apart from the blue chip talent.
MSL staying on is irrelevant to my point, he should've never been hired.
MT was the worst coach we’ve had since at least Claude Ruel. And that includes Cunneyworth. It’s beyond debate as far as I’m concerned. Carey Price carried him until he got hurt and then we plummeted to the very bottom of the standings. MT was bad on so many levels and it’s been well documented so I won’t go further than that. God awful coach.I genuinely do not understand the obsession with MT. MSL is a guy with zero coaching experience who got a job as the coach of the most storied hockey team to ever exist because he was friend's with the GM.
I responded to someone bringing up MT as if he had a losing record, but he didn't. Now its he didn't have a losing record because he had price, sure but that doesn't change what I responded to.
I don’t know why he was hired. I only know that I was really happy with the results coming into this season. What I thought to be a window dressing move turned out to be a pretty good hire. That said, who even cares about MT? We can talk about any of our previous coaches and go in circles about who was good and who wasn't but it doesn't change the fact we hired a guy with zero experience because he was buddy buddy with the GM. That is literally nepotism. MSL would not be a HC in any other NHL team without experience prior.
He has not shown anything special to warrant such treatment either. It wasn't like he surprised and everyone said "Holy shit, Hughes was right". The question is more if we gave him enough time to fire him or not these days.
It seems to me like MSL and the front office have hit the panic button and entered a "win-now" mode because they're all desperate to keep their jobs.
They keep saying one thing but then their actions suggest another thing.
I don't see any evidence to support this at all.
They could have fired MSL and hired Montgomery as a panic switch.
They are literally doing 'The Rebuild season 2' for Crave.
Hughes earlier said they are still not compromising the long term vision of the reconstruction to help this iteration of the team and have made no short term band-aid fixes.
There's no suggestion or hint that they are on the hot seat. Molson is supportive of what they are doing as it is long overdue.
The way things are going they probably gonna pull a ''game of thrones'' with 8 seasons of it.
Win now??? What? When did that start ?It seems to me like MSL and the front office have hit the panic button and entered a "win-now" mode because they're all desperate to keep their jobs.

When they said we're in the mix and it blew up in their faceWin now??? What? When did that start ?
When they said we're in the mix and it blew up in their face
Now we're back to the vets being overplayed and gifted PP time like the Ducharme days
Makes no sense to me that they'd say "wins aren't productive right now" or whatever and then refuse to give guys like Hutson and Heineman PP time while deploying Matheson like he's Bobby Orr
My beef is more with Marty than HuGo, but I haven't been overly impressed with HuGo in the past year either.Matheson was given PP time and used like this at every juncture in the rebuild.
His usage hasn't really changed at all.
That's a Marty problem and it's becoming an annoying trend.

I'm glad that Gally and Anderson are having comeback seasons but there's still a lack of accountability with the vets with MSL, meanwhile the rookies seem to be playing afraid of making mistakes (especially Dach) which is getting frustrating
The fans and media seems to have hit the panic button..............but the team sure hasn't.It seems to me like MSL and the front office have hit the panic button and entered a "win-now" mode because they're all desperate to keep their jobs.

I'm fine with losing, especially since we need more high-end prospects, but I'm not a fan of the losing culture that's growing. Consistently losing games by 3+ goals is not good. It's not good for player development, both fundamentally and on a psychological level. The fans and media seems to have hit the panic button..............but the team sure hasn't.
The opposite in fact................Hughes just two weeks ago said they would NOT sacrifice the furture for a quick fix right now.
100% right.I'm fine with losing, especially since we need more high-end prospects, but I'm not a fan of the losing culture that's growing. Consistently losing games by 3+ goals is not good. It's not good for player development, both fundamentally and on a psychological level.
to late last year was the timePersonally I’d just trade him.
