I admittedly am not an AV fan but the has. team looked way better recently as opposed to the west coast nightmare. What the team needs is finishers desperately, however one of them is not walking through the locker room door unless you roll the dice with Kristo. No one knows when Nash is back so Sather has to be proactive if he wants to save the season.

You simply have to give AV more time. How many games has he had a full roster to work with? One...maybe.

You can't implement a new system and get everyone on board with a monster of a western road trip, several key injuries, and your #1 center arriving late into camp.

Ehh what?

You liked how we looked last year? You must have been alone.
I don't think so. I think that most of us enjoyed a hard-working product that was successful each night.

Boring, not boring, whatever. Winning is NEVER boring. Under Tortarella, this was the team that I enjoyed most since 1994. A team that was a product that was better than the sum of it's parts. Not the most talented, but a true TEAM. A team that gave every bit as good as they took. A team that did not back down. A team that stood up for each other. A team that grew up together. And most important, a team that came to play every night.

Torts knew what he had. Knew how to get the most out of it. AV cannot seem to figure it out without the Sedins. But again, the most damning thing of all is the utter lack of effort on most nights. Or not showing up at all. Or only showing up in spurts. Largely, this was not seen under Torts. The players may not have liked him, but they showed up to play each night. If they did not, they did not play. It was that simple. No matter if they were the highest paid player or the lowest plaid player. They feared not playing hard each night. They feared not playing exactly the way that Tortarella made them plan.

And now? Where is the accountability? Where is the effort? Where is the desire to win? Where is the battle level? Ohhhh.....let's use the feel-good approach and a clean slate. Big, bad Tortarealla stifled the creativity of the players. Turns out that they are not creative enough. And feel good approach has also led to a return to a level of play that is best associated with watching the likes of Kamensky play. The effort level is reminding me of a Low/Muckler/Sather coached team.

More time for success? Sure. Does he need more time to figure out how to make the players play with effort each night? I would certainly hope not.

Sure, but NONE of that addresses or excuses lack of effort and floating on ice.

AV is not better than Torts, maybe more badly. Show AV to door and get call to Guy Boucher.

What you think about Boucher? I liked his style in Tampa :)

AV is an empty suit. He was propped up by a good team in Vancouver.

That's not true. AV was as much a part of making Vancouver an elite team as the roster itself was.

The problem is that I think the book on AV is out and teams know how to shut his system down. It happened in Vancouver the last 2 years and it's happening with you guys. He'll adjust, he just needs to see all his cards first.

If the book is out, then why has he not adjusted? When will he adjust? If, as you point out, this has been happening for 3 years, it is not a good indication that he has not adjusted yet.

And again, how does any of it fix the utter lack of effort? Or softness as a team?
