Christ Jesus is risen from the dead

8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:

Ok so he's tied up at the moment, but maybe when he's done with whole flaming vengeance thing we offer him a contract.

Vigneault? another Trottier\Tom Webster\Ron Stewart\Larry Popein\Boom Boom

cripes, has any other team had so many ineffective new coaches since '60's expansion?

Maybe AV gets to finish his first season, unlike the guys I listed (Webster was actually health), but this is pathetic.

The players haven't produced, but the team has no identity or presence.

The Florida Panthers LMAO...........:(

I think I'm bad luck.

Hey, merge this thread with the "Messier No Hard Feelings" thread?

Torts 17 AV 4

you can throw away all your excuses.. its a new system, new coach. blah blah blah....

this team is terrible in every faucet of the game, NY owes Torts an apology!

Torts destroys AV in all of these

What coach would be successful with a team missing half it's top six with a defense that still hasn't successfully made the transition to man, and without their top goalie?

Serious question, can you trade coaches in the NHL? I know you can in the NFL, Gruden was traded. It's a pipe dream but I'd love to have Torts back here.

Tippett would be a good fit with his defensive focus. Look what he did for Bryz and Mike Smith, and imagine what he'd do for Hank.

Not sure really of any good unemployed options at this point. Lavy gets tossed around but I sometimes question how much of his thing was being in good places, rather than actually making them good places.

Other teams that have a record of success. What coach cannot get their teams to show up and play with any degree of effort?

Isn't it the opposite, Ponzi, eeh I am sorry, Torts built this team. He coched them for 3.5 years. Got players handpicked for him. We jettisoned Gabby, got Nash. We never looked for puck moving ability on the blueline. Always premiered the Pyatt, Boyle and co's of the world.

Now all of a sudden we have a team that can't even remotely move the puck at the same level of say the Islanders and everything is just a mess -- and we should appologise to Torts???

I don't quite follow to be honest.

Agreed. We need to play better. We are over 1/10 into the season, time is flying by. There are "excuses" for AV, but not to be one of the worst teams in the league. We need to play better and with more effort.

But undoubtedly, the guy before him left a helluva mess behind him. One have witnessed alot at this place, but to argue that Torts has done a good job here in NY in light of how horrible the team looks that he left behind is up there for sure...

I disagree with almost everyone in here. This team is not bad. Our top 6 are pretty thin and are in need of depth, but they are not terrible, like people say here. Our bottom 6 are pretty good, except for Pyatt. It is a long season and we do not have that many potential Olympians that need to show off in early going like, say, Sharks do. We had a subpar goaltending on long road trip we ended 3-6 instead of 4-5 expected. We fixed the G already. Lundqvist is not injured. IMHO. It's a fake, as he needs time to re-adjust his style of play to small equipment. We are going to be fine. Just give it a little time.

Sorry, I do not buy that. Torts left a mess? He left a team that 2 years ago went to the ECF and last year advanced to the 2nd round. Most coaches would kill to inherit such a "mess".

This is where we are seeing things very differently. You say that Tortarealla did not do a good job based on how the team is playing this year. I say that based on how the team played under Tortarella, there is simply no excuse for the trash that we have seen on the is this year. And that is on AV.

Patience and fake injuries?

Forget the rest of what you are saying, how does ANY of it address the lack of effort on most nights?

I don't see it either. He left a 23 year old #1 center, a 24 year old #1 defenseman and team with a strong work ethic and a good amount of playoff experience.

Basically we're playing with our skates untied. The whole atmosphere changed when Torts and his staff were canned.

Seriously what moron thought it was a good idea to hire Scott Arniel?

Like, what was the thinking behind that hire? It boggles the mind. I didn't want AV, whatsoever....but Scott Arniel?

S.O.S.

Did we have bad starts? Not really. Effort fades away once players see that goalie struggles. No one decides to stop playing, but it is hard to stay enthused once you realize it is not gonna be a fun night. Team leaders can talk to players, coaches could pump 'em up. No one ever talks to goaltenders. There is no way to effect them other than yank out of the net.

Ehh what?

You liked how we looked last year? You must have been alone.

Disagree with everything except the comment about Lundqvist. Im a sucker for these kinds of theories. The team looked like a joke out there, Lundqvist was off his game and getting zero support. Lhim get his head together for the remainder of a longb road trip while the team works out the kinks. Let him start at home.

Rangers Fan since late 60's
I live in Southern CA now, going to Ducks games
since they started.

"If I had their payroll, I'd win every year"

How can a team with the resources of the Rangers,
and a fan base no matter how bad they play, seem so
screwed up?
The Ducks won a cup, got in salary cap hell, and have come out of
that with a great looking prospect pool, and some very, very good
top end talent.
I watched the Rangers out here, and a few games on TV, and wow...just wow

Rangers GM, weather forecasters, and politicians.
