Exactly and one has to think that Shanny interfered in a lot of Dubas’ plans. I do think there is truth to that. I think it goes both ways. Shanny probably stoped some bad deals but he probably also said no to some potentially good deals .
Either way like we said we won’t ever know
Judging by how much he pursued Karlsson once he got to Pit, I wonder if that was what he was trying to do here?

I’d love Gallant, but he wouldn’t be a good fit because this group couldn’t or wouldn’t play his style.

Remember JT’s return to the Island? The team was embarrassed.
The Leafs remind of those martial art demonstrations where the master is doing whatever he wants to the student and the student just goes along with it....if the student actually tries to fight...the master is perplexed and shocked (this isn't the way it's supposed to be) ....The leafs are that master...when the other team pushes back on them, they are confused...they wanted the easy demo of their skills...not an actual fight....this is our team....sigh.

Keefe likely isn't going to be fired anytime soon after the extension.
They always put in the offset clause in the contracts...so if he gets another gig (which he will)....the salary the Leafs contractually owe him gets deducted from what he would get from another team. The only guy who milked the Leafs was Babs....he stayed away because his shine wore off and he wanted to stick it to the Leafs. Other than that case...most teams aren't really paying guys to not coach unless it's a total Newbie that gets turfed early on in his career.
