Are you saying Forsberg, Johansen and Cousins are soft or have no bite? Remember on the back end we have Ekholm, Boro and Myers too.

I don't like the deal but the only physical forward we'd be giving up would be Kunin, and right now, I'd say we're one of the more physical teams in the NHL.
I think we are used to people not really keeping up with our team, that's a-ok. We saw that heading into this season. The team is going to finish 1st in hits, penalty mins, and fighting majors, across the entire league. There is plenty of "bite" with this version of the Preds, and it's entirely fine with me if other fans aren't keeping up with the changes, again. :)

Yeah, even after listing the names, I doubt the poster knows who they are, Nashville doesn't get national coverage, Trenin really just started breaking out and Jeannot is a rookie.

I mean.. Ryjo sure doesn't and with this deal Cousins is out of the lineup pretty much. So.. that leaves Forsberg who is fine.

We'll have to disagree on Johansen (he doesn't throw a lot of hits but he plays a lot in front of the net) and why would Cousins be out of the line-up? He's played the 4th line a lot this year. I'd also guess McCarron would stay on the 4th line over Novak, as we've seen a Cousins-McCarron-Tomasino line a lot this season already. Again, I'm not in favor of this deal but the Predators would still be plenty physical.

Anyway, the physicality doesn't even matter, Tolvanen and Kunin are good hitters, but we'd still have a very physical team without them. What we can't afford is taking on $16M in salary. It's just a complete non-starter from a Cap perspective, no matter what anybody thinks of the players involved. Preds do have over $10M in Cap Space. But that's not enough to take these two contracts and keep Forsberg.

Pretty bad for CBJ and how does this even work salary wise?

Maybe something around Voracek for picks/prospects could work.
We don’t want or have any need for a 8.25 million forward with his better playing days behind him. Well keep our young assets and watch them develop. I like laine and I think his goal scoring ability is something that could be used in Nashville but I wouldn’t make this trade solely based on voracek being added. We have enough playmakers on our team. We need to make sure we have the money to pay forsberg as well and this deal would make it hard for us to do that

Voracek is playing at a 60 point pace this year

Columbus has a ton of cap. They are better off eating Voracek's deal and selling Laine alone to highest bidder if he's not willing to re-sign, or possibly trade him as a pure rental next deadline with a one year deal.

Never said he was playing horrible. I said his better playing days are behind him which they are and I go on to say we need a goal scorer not another 8+ million playmaker.

Nobody said you said he was playing horrible, he's playing to his career averages though because the 2 80 points seaons, he hasnt slowed down and doesn't appear to be slowing down in his point totals anytime soon. It was just the incorrect take to back up your agenda.

Touché I thought he had more 80 point seasons.

Yeah hard pass from a Nashville perspective. Laine won't fit with Hynes's style, and Voracek is geriatric. Nashville would be giving up 3 quality players plus a 1st rounder? No thanks.
First person to mention the Laine and Hynes fit. Could there be a worse fit...aside from Laine and his last coach?

This is Nashville going all in to convince Forsberg to re-sign and make the opening salvo in the Central Div Arms Race

to Nashville : Laine, Voracek

to CLS: 2022 1st, Luke Kunin, Eeli Tolvanen, David Farrance

Nsh rollin with

Forsberg-Duchene-Granlund
Voracek-Johansen-Laine
HERD
Cousins- Novak-Tomasino
No thanks, I’d rather keep Laine/Voracek, and that’s before even talking about salaries.

If Laine is traded, we will want something more valuable than any of the pieces in that trade. Also why would Nashville want to take on that much cap..
