Huge to get a point from this game after being down 3-0.

Positives: Kulikov had an excellent game. Brossoit kept us in it with a couple of huge saves when the next goal would have killed the game. Scheifele should some passion and drive, and scored the equalizer.

Negatives: Our bottom pairing with Bitetto was atrocious. What's up with the injuries? Our PP did the penalty killing for the Caps. It was comically bad.

Our boys showed that with a bit of luck and a lot of fight, we can take these guys at home.

Laine have been horrible for three last games. His effort level is down and today was not enough. I think his stint in third line will be a lot longer.

A point is a point... especially when you almost didn’t come close to it...

The jets defence is one of the slowest and immobile I have ever seen on a NHL team.

Ehlers has some of the best hands on the team... and that’s the shootout attempt he makes? No wonder He appears to be dog housed half the time.

Great comeback and necessary point. Hopefully a springboard going into the last 16 games. I really liked the effort and the offensive style in the final 25 minutes. We need that risk based play over the defensive emphasis, especially with the defence we currently have. To cover up for that weakness we completely eliminate any offense.
Ehlers was great. Shootout attempt .... meh
PP was awful. Wheeler needs a break from that. Christ, move Laine over to Wheeler's spot on the wall. He is the best passer on the team by a mile. Can't hurt, cause the PP is a tire fire atm.
Poolman, yikes. What happened to his development curve? Biteto at least tried to spark the team. I can live with that - if he's only getting 10-12 minutes otherwise.
Pionk continues to impress, but man do we need Mo back asap.
Niku. WTF is wrong with that guy? Snake bit or really dumb.

Ehlers had a minute more ice time then Laine and over two minutes more at ES.

Yes and during regulation there were 7 forwards with more icetime than either. They were in the 3rd line. 55-26 played 6-7 min more than either, again in regulation, didn't check stats after OT. It's just one game so not gonna burn my underwear... Yet :)

The Jets are underdogs this year. I am sure they remember how Craig Button threw their defense under the bus to begin the year, pundits picked them on the outside, and yet they are still in the fight.

I look at this as a pretty tight team. Ehlers I could see being frustrated because out of the top 5 star forwards we have, he is considered #5 by his coach. He is still a significant player. But I think Laine is happier without Buff yelling at him on the ice, and probably off it too.

Defense is held together with pins and needles. But it's battling. I think the Jets have shown themselves better at coming back than years past. Last year's group was extremely frustrating in their propensity to blow leads. I bet that led to some internal dissention.

A lot of the roster this year are AHL graduates, and castoffs. The 2015's are gelling into the team. The castoffs, or misfits, seems to fit.
Noticed Copper giving the tap to Beaulieu after the 1st period. Wheeler credits Bitetto for changing the tide after the fight.

I think taking the enforcer away has made the team have to stick up for each other. We're also no longer a team that takes a lot of penalties, especially retaliation penalties. That's a significant change. I think this has helped keep a certain rythym in our play. You don't have Scheifele and Lowry playing similar minutes. Heck right now don't even have Lurch.

The only problems I see in the locker rooms is there are some guys that are badly beaten up, and others are having to play over their heads.
This is a really good post voyageur and probably much closer to the truth than all the finger pointer and throwing of players under the bus that makes up far too much of the discussion around here. Every once in awhile someone postulates if players read this forum. Not a chance in a million years. These guys battle and fight along side each other and our not preoccupied by all the petty little dramas, vindictiveness and conspiracy theories that passes for discourse on this board. It would be a kin to spending time listening to 8th graders trying to get tips on a work ethic and then believing that they have any idea what they are talking about.

Nice comeback win after a slow 1st period. Hopefully this will propel us to to put a few wins together. Florida did us a favor last night and we need to take advantage of that

I agree with people on this team. With what happened to the defense this year, no one and I mean no one was giving us a chance and yet here we are still battling. This team is really tight knit from what I can see. Ehlers is getting 6.75 Million a year long term and you think he is "upset". The only thing he can be mad about is not getting more PP time and I am sure he is making a case for just that. He got 17 minutes of even strength time last night and yes he tried something that did not work in that shoot out but so what?

It was a good battle back but this team just doesn't have the horses. No surprise we look better again once we open it up but coach won't do that till its 3-0 (yes I realize score effects were a part of it as well).

I could give a flying fiddler's fart what the lines are if we are winning but Wheeler has to come off PP1 . Scheifele with Laine , Connor , Ehlers and either Morrissey or Pionk .

I appreciate this thought. :) But the shift, the opening up of our play in the third ruled. The Jets would have destroyed Buffalo with the level of effort, and open game that we saw in last nights third.

BUT

Wheels has to suck it up, hold a Coaches' meeting with Coach Mo, kick Huddy and Compon out of the room, get out his paddle and coerce/cajol/connive Mo to place him back to the second line centre role. Kapitan is good at that. And, he's done his job, Shuffles has got the Funk Out.

EDIT: Tip of the hat to you and @Ginger Papa, (and for the one point gained) I will give some props to the Iron Maidens. This is not easy stuff to play, but this band can really play!!! Surprised to see they are coming to Winnipeg.

The Jets were pushed around like a bunch of school girls. The losses of Buff, Chairot, Tanev, Myers and the injury to Lowry really showed. Someone should have given Orlov a beating, but we don't have anybody in our lineup capable of that. And if not that, then at least we should have been hammering their players in front of the net and along the boards, but we don't have anybody who can do that either. And I constantly read about the "new NHL" and how we will be just fine with waif-like defensemen like Niku, Pionk and Heinola. Sorry, but when the playoffs start and we end up against real contenders we'd get squished. I think we need a little size and a little ruggedness.

That attempt by Ehlers in the shootout was frustratingly stupid. If he never sees the shootout again, that will be why.

Just keep Kyle Connor out of the trade speculation, his defense will improve and 30 plus goal scorers don't grow on trees
Unless we get a defenseman that is currently better than either Morrissey or Pionk. Scratch that - a lot better than those two - then I wouldn't consider trading Connor.

Its 6.00 Million a year... and 15 min even strenght last night + 2 min pp but nevermind... i get what you are saying.. i think we will be much better next year with better defence.

Also there is not a worse thing you can imply about a player than throwing a game because he doesn't care. Honestly it is sickening some posters think so little of Fly to even imply it even if it was an attempted jab at Maurice.
I agree. Ehlers may be intellectually stunted, but I can't see him trying not to score just to stick it to the coach. But that attempt was truly asinine.

Did not see the Jets coming back after watching how horrible they looked getting down by 3. Obviously won't happen this year, but Beaulieu and Bitteto need to be shown the door in the offseason. Neither have a shred of awareness of what's happening on the ice. Poolman is trending that way as well, but I'm giving him more rope due to his games played and possible injury situation. But watching these guys continually leave opposing players wide open in the D zone is mind boggling. You wouldn't get away with that in kids hockey.
