Cleveland Browns Unveil Renderings of Potential New Indoor Suburban Stadium

wow $2.4 billion to be in the Cleveland suburbs, I know the cost of stadiums have gone up a lot over the years but that would put it ahead of every stadium other than Sofi

Probably more than just the stadium.

But these dome stadiums, Ford Field only has a Kenny chesny concert and 2 ncaa football games between now and the end of the nfl season. Not exactly getting a lot of extra events.

"As part of a counter argument, Jenkins wrote the current stadium needs "substantial improvements" for sustainability. "

lol the substantial improvement would be a better team.

I doubt the Brook Park thing goes anywhere unless the owners suddenly change direction and decide to start footing significantly more of the bill. So far the city has been very unwilling to pay for a majority of the work and Brook Park is poorer and even less likely. Maybe they think they can get money from the state, but I don't think the state has been too thrilled with the idea of footing the bill, either.

I don't follow this super closely, but what I keep seeing is that people think the Brook Park thing is trying to find leverage with the city of Cleveland to get a better deal there. And the city isn't biting. Personally, I'd let them walk. I don't think they actually bring that much money into the area except for whoever owns the parking lots.

I thought that was the old stadium since it was like 70K seats for a terrible baseball team, or maybe the city itself.
Yeah that refers to the old Municipal Stadium. Built during the Depression and demolished in 1996 after the Browns left.

How much Entertainment area can be built up around a large venue that gets 9-10 games a season in the fall? Plus requires a lot of parking lot spaces for the fans to tailgate at? I get it for indoor 18k stadiums and maybe mlb since they play 81 games at home between April to Sept when the weather is good.

Boring design. I hate domes for sports. Praying the Eagles don't cave into the trend whenever they leave the Linc
How many events are held at the Linc each year? Curious as in the Northeast USA, what cities have a 70k indoor facility? Like the Carrier Dome in Syracuse but that’s a much lower capacity.

Looks like none in the Northeast, though Ford Field (65K) and Lucas Oil are within a reasonable drive to/from Cleveland
It’s just that trio of Indy, Minny, Detroit that have the indoor football facility in the north. The ones in the south it’s more for the heat in the summer.
But with Wash looking to build a new stadium see if they go with the trend of indoors. Hopefully they all go with a grass field even if it’s indoors like Az and LV. Or they copy the same technology of retracting the field like they do in Tottenham stadium.

The government is looking to take money out of schools to pay for this. Kind of dumb.
They already funnel a bunch of money out of public schools to fund wealthy kids going to strangely underperforming pay schools, so this would be nothing new.

Brookpark is such a lousy area. 71 has a speed trap level of speed limit and the exchange with 480 is a mess. It looks like they are combining it with an amtrak station and the airport, so I'm sure getting in and out of the games is going to be a breeze.

Cleveland needs to let these guys take their team and just go. The Browns suck anyway and the city doesn't need them stealing events from the other indoor arenas already down town.

Realistically I dont see how this stadium will steal events. Huge events like WWE PPVs, Final Four were unlikely going to held at Rocket Arena in the first place. Massive acts like Taylor Swift, Coldplay or Morgan Wallen (to name a few) usually play at stadiums due to ticket demand.

Having lived at one point in a. cold weather city that had both an indoor arena and stadium, the latter didn't steal that many events.
