I don't buy it, the Browns are just trying to pull one over on the league and they will pay him to go away
There is no out for the Browns, unless Watson was doing an activity that he should not have that caused this second surgery. This is not the NHL with LTIR. There is no relief for the Browns with Watson's fully guaranteed contract. They do not get extra cap space to sign another player.

Browns screwed up so badly on this.

Watson and Cooper will be an interesting duo to watch

After 20+ years the browns finally have a franchise QB

Watson became ass and Cooper didn’t crack a smile once. Only thing Watson did with Cleveland was collect checks, play air guitar and play absolutely terrible football.

lmao Lamar Jackson is the 3rd best QB in his division

While Watson is really good, I just don't think he's better than Burrow. Not to mention than healthy Ravens are better team. So, I guess this will be your typical era of Browns football. I don't expect much from them even with Deshaun.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have ourselves a winner!

Ah, but that's not entirely true. Him being unable to play is going to provide the Browns with something like $44 million in cap relief for the 2026 season.

the beginning of this thread is awesome
Did you predict Watson being bad?

I forgot that there is an avenue for cap relief if the browns paid to have the contract insured. That came up as an article back when Rodgers injured his achillies. The insurance money would have helped offset some of the money/cap charge.

im ngl i was looking thru this thread and one on another forum i post on to see if i posted anything about it but i dont think i did

i feel like i was more hesitant about it making the browns amazing than a lot of ppl but i dont have any receipts lol

either way it’d still be funny. got no problem laughing at my shitty old takes

But are they shitty old takes? At the time the trade was made, everyone employed in the NFL and covering the NFL thought Watson was an awesome QB.

That's why there was a big bidding war. It's why everyone covering the NFL said it was a massive game changer.

there really wasn't any reason to think watson's time in cleveland would end up this bad aside from just assuming it would because browns gonna browns

pretty much everyone figured the browns had finally landed their franchise QB and that watson gave them a better shot at the playoffs than baker did

the lamar posts are fun to read though. oof

when watson looks as bad as he looked yeah theyre bad takes even considering context. it’d be one thing if he were at least a capable starter. everyone was dead wrong, including those NFL teams and front offices. they forgot that the browns are still the browns
