Someone reported the Browns removed a clause from the Watson contract when they restructured his deal a few months ago. The tweet claimed the Browns could reclaim some of the guaranteed money if Watson was suspended again.

It turns out no clause like it was removed.
Have to ask why would Watson's agent have agreed to something like that? What would they have gotten in return? Thus, it didn't make sense.

You guys laugh, but if Watson stays healthy for two more games, there is a chance he has his most productive season since going to the Browns. Most touchdowns (maybe), most yards (maybe), most games played.

If not for how he got $230M guaranteed, I would say this is karmic justice. Unfortunately, it isn't. Except maybe for the Browns.

Unfortunately for the Browns, this quick settlement probably also scuttles any league investigation that could have put to the test the question of whether the Browns could get out of the contract.

Cleveland is the first team in more than two decades to play the first six games of a season without gaining 300 total yards or exceeding 18 points even once.

Watson’s EPA (expected points added) per pass play ranks 590th out of 592 quarterbacks who started the first six games of a season since 2000, per TruMedia.

Have to think his mental game is all out of whack. There are 53 men in that lockerroom- I'm sure some of them side eye him. If not them, the wives of some of those players probably do. Going into opposing stadiums has to be tough. I'd bet the fans are ruthless. Even going out in public probably comes with some negative attention. The elephant in the room is gigantic. Too damn large to ignore.

This will be an interesting 30 for 30 to watch in 5-10 years.

He might as well walk away from football at this point. He has guaranteed generationnal wealth, his football abilities are already shot, hated everywhere, no point coming back.

Does the contract have injury insurance though? I’d hate to see him keep all that money.
