Caps are short on depth right now due to too many injuries. Keller is good player but that contract is high for the point production and Caps have not much Cap space to take a 7+ mill contract. What would the Caps need to trade to get Keller with 50% retention by Yotes. Since Yotes are going all in on this draft maybe some future picks and Samsonov?

If you want 50% retention you need to pay. I think samsonov+lapierre+mcmichael+3rd rounder would do it

I'd imagine, if we're retaining that much for that long, you'll be paying us for opportunity costs. My gut says 2 1st, 2 2nds, Protas, Lapierre, Kempny.

That's steep but you're buying 7 years of reduced cap for a young, productive player. I'm betting 70 points would be pretty easy for Keller on a team like the capitals.

I don't believe in switching teams, but I don't think anyone signed up for what's going on in Arizona. If they dump off Chychrun or Keller, I think I would be finding something else to spend my entertainment time and money on.

The idea that Arizona who can’t pay players to actually play for them. Would pay players NOT to play for them is insane

Can't see any rationale for Avs to do this.

But also as noted above, very unlikely AZ, or any team, would retain so much for so long
