Maybe Clode should have asked Bill how to gameplan for the Habs?

Thierrien definitely has an advantage over Julien recently as far as pressuring the puck carrier and getting defenseman into puck battles and causing trouble on the forecheck in the recent Habs Bruins matchups.

With that said, no coach would have won that game working with that pack of corpses today.

I respectfully disagree. Habs roster just as bad if not worse. Bruins were out worked, that's why they lost

Can't blame Claude for that loss. If these guys can't get up for that game then they don't belong on a NHL roster.

Would Bill have started Rask?

BTW, Rask has no blame in the loss. I want to see what people really think about Claude's decisions.

To me he often goes against what would be better decisions. That mind set is for us fans not him. :(

No issues with starting Rask.

My two issues were the composition of the D and the jumbling of the lines (Loui with 37). I would have left Beleskey and Loui with Spooner. It might not be ideal, but Bergeron can function with just about anybody if need be.

For this game I am on the fence with that.

My question is more Bill vs Claude.

most scariest thing right now, the washington capitals have lost 2 games in a row, there next game is at home vs the B's , bruins better be ready or I can see the caps winning by a touchdown.

Really big game , national spotlight and you'd consider starting the backup :amazed:

I don't work for NBC. You do what it takes for your players know what is happening.

I don't think Rask expected to have the game of his career against a team he can't seem to beat on shotty ice at best. Even as it turned out he is not at fault for the result.

Still remains Bill vs Claude.

It could be a struggle without Marchand but I am still expecting a win.

When Bruins beat them in Dec. Rask had a very strong game. We shouldn't be asking the question why can't Rask beat the Habs, but rather why can't Julien and the Bruins beat the Habs. And as far as the ice goes , I heard numerous reports that the ice was fast and very good. I saw less bouncing pucks then we usually see at TD Garden, just because it was an outside game it doesn't have to equate to poor ice conditions.

before julien this year, who was the last bruins coach to miss playoffs for 2 consecutives years ?

He is easily one of the best coaches we have ever had...that said, I would not cry if he left. Despite his record, his teams have had a tendency to fail in the playoffs except for 2011....duh. The main thing that I dislike about him is his strategy. It is no coincidence that ever since he has been here, his teams have tended to take their foot of the gas during games.
That is on him...not the players, him.

Again, stack up his record against any active coach. Ten years. Take a look at the very similar, and complimentary, quotes featured in both the LeBrun & DJ Bean articles.

The grass is always greener. Until, alack, it's not.

Let's get effing Tortorella in here, by all means. Or maybe Ron Wilson. Or maybe Mike Babcock. Or maybe Dave Hakstol. Or maybe Adam Oates. Or maybe Mike Milbury.

Or maybe your grandmother.

This is A ROSTER PROBLEM, not a COACHING PROBLEM.

Tom Coughlin took the Giants to two SB wins, and didn't have a talented team this year. Him leaving the Giants (mutually) doesn't mean he's a bad coach, just that he stopped being the right coach. Also a less than talented roster doesn't absolve him from blame, at least two loses were squarely on him.

IMO Julien is in the same boat. He's a great coach, just not the right one for the Bruins anymore and certainly has a share in some of their losses

The player's positioning in the last minute was especially interesting to me, maybe that has nothing to do with coaching. :(

Fair enough.

I'm a Julien fan, but I genuinely appreciate what you're saying.

I think it's a little of both.

My personal belief is that the B's are a team in transition, but Clode is coaching them like they are legit contenders. I have been particularly disappointed in his decisions on defense. When/if Clode leaves, it won't be because he's a bad coach, it will be because it's time to go.

ps I want no part of Wilson, Torts, or MM and hope the next coach is a younger guy. Hakstol actually has PHI playing pretty well.

The team has basically over performed this year. Everyone around here defense defense defense bla bla bla. Our defense is what it is , it isn't great but if you guys cant figure out why we are losing now I cant help you. We don't have the depth up front to counter a lot of the top forwards going down. Take a look at our lines last night ----I ask what coach in the world is going to win a lot with those lines. You put D.K, Past, and Marchy back in and suddenly those lines don't look too bad and the team will be winning again---not a top of the nhl team but a good one.

10 days ago when this team was surging and about to lead the division and folks were mentioning him as a strong Coach of the Year candidate since he had basically half of a new roster and was still near the top of the division, was he the "right one for the Bruins anymore"?

It makes about as much sense to blame Julien for this stretch as it does Rask-----ZERO

Beleskey-Spooner-Ferraro
Eriksson-Bergeron-Connolly
Vatrano-Kemppainen-Hayes
Rinaldo-Talbot-Randell

Show me more than one or two teams lines that look much worse than this. I just looked at phillys current lines and it wasn't close who I would rather have . I checked Buffalo and I would take theirs. This isn't Sweeneys or anybodys fault, we have the depth to handle losing guys but not a couple of the very top guys plus one of the most talented. I am actually positive the only coaches that could win consistently with this line up are the HF board coaches .

We should have two of three back by Saturday and than we just have one big hole to plug. This team really has to keep the following players healthy----Bergeron. marchand , loui, D.k , Chara krug and rask. I didn't put Pastrnak or Spooner on here but they are next in line for their offensive talents and spooner pp need which is basically why krug is on it.

I haven't thought he's the right one since the end of last year. I know Baseball is a different animal, but forgive me if I'm skeptical about a flawed team making a surge; it certainly didn't do my Yankees much good. The Football Giants were leading their division at one point too.
