I imagine his goal would be to play more than one playoff round.

But it’s also been reported that he’s a hyper competitive guy who doesn’t like the idea of jumping ship to his team’s rivals. So when Philly was shopping him, he said no to New York and Boston.

If he asks to be moved I bet it’s back Florida or nothing.

Ottawa would get a 3rd back, like they did with Tarasenko.
They got 2 3rd's for Tarasenko

If Ottawa want to trade him right now
Colorado will be the right place.
With Colton - Wood - Landeskog and Drouin all injured at least for month Colorado got a place for him and Colorado need help to make the Playoffs

I think you are focussing on the wrong part of this discussion and trying to pick a fight about it. I'll put it in plain language for you. It doesn't matter if it's one mid round pick or two mid round picks, the overall point remains the same - the team is going to get less than market value would typically dictate for a player like Giroux because of his not trade clause.

How is a conditional 4th nearly the same value as a 3rd? If 3 = "maybe 4", then the math isn't so simple, is it?
Turns out it was 2 thirds

I respect that, but that just tells you he doesn't see the cup as the ultimate goal.

his goal is to play more then 1 playoff round.

And to achieve This goal he signed in Ottawa where they have not played a playoff round since 2017 and don't look like they will this year either.

You misunderstand. He signed in Ottawa because he and his wife are from here, and their families live here. That’s why he came to a bad team. Family.

But should he decide to make himself a 2 month rental, winning rounds will become the priority. And that doesn’t bode well for the Leafs.
