Brilliantly smart player. Hockey brain.
Not a particularly great skater, not a big guy, and though he worked hard to develop an above average shot, it's not elite by any means. He's got 3 plus tools - sweet hands, drive/fight/compete level/whatever you want to call it, and most of all a first rate hockey mind. Such an easy player to watch and root for.

As a Flyer fan, as with most of them, we are very upset with how he was treated throughout his career with the team. Management couldn't build a competent team around him, and he had to deal with clueless coaches. He's the most talented player they've had since Lindros, and was basically treated the same way in the end. There's also a vocal online minority who blame Giroux for everything this past decade (these are the same fans that think you win with players like Deslauriers and MacEwen). Giroux carried this team on his back and gave everything to this franchise.

They way his career ended here with Fletcher, it'll always leave a sour taste in my mouth. Rumours are rumours, but it's hard not to believe some of them, especially when Bob Clarke is still involved.

I'm happy to see him still succeeding in OTT. It's too bad they still aren't quite there because Giroux deserves a shot at the Cup.

As a Pens fan, he has always been a great player inhibited by the stupidity of Flyers management. Of course he is really grabbing it in Ottawa surrounded by young talent.

Great player, unfortunate for him that he signed with the Sens though. Would've been an elite 2C on some really good playoff teams.

He should be in the playoffs, and we shoulda seen a few more deep runs from him. He played on a legit team for his first few years and then tweener trash for the rest of it.

It sucks because when you look at the names around him in production from his era, he's behind only guys like Stamkos, Kane, Crosby, Malkin, Ovechkin. All those guys had additional firepower and got their Cups, didn't play for 7 different coaches in 12 years...the only other guy in that scenario is Tavares, and he's at least on a contending if cursed team. But Giroux is a better player than Tavares. Probably better than Kopitar, too.

Aren't his centre days done? He's playing wing and taking key faceoffs now. I'm pretty sure he's done that for the last couple years.

Giroux always seemed like the type of player who would age well as long as he stayed healthy. Reminds me of Pavelski in that he relies on his vision, hockey IQ, and sneaky good shot rather than speed or physicality.
