Cizikas

Nice to see Cizikas hard work paying off.

I'm not taking a swipe at Nino, who I still have very high hopes for, but couldn't the isles have been looking for Nino to be playing with the same energy Cizikas is playing with, on last season's 4th line?

Unfortunately there are not too many players in the NHL that play with the tenacity of Cizikas. One thing I did notice was that on the Caps 5-3 yesterday, there was no Reasoner. It was Cizikas and they did not score. This guy is a pleasure to watch and will be an important part of the franchise for years to come.

Is he going to change his number or is that a number he has had for a while?

If you remember Casey's one man penalty kill at the World Junior a couple years back it says it all.
Since I do not know to, ITM might find it and post it.

He was everything on his Mississauga team as well. Kid is a pure hockey player - good at all facets of the game.

I'm not surprised by how well he's doing in the NHL. I am surprised how quickly it's happened.

He would do well on the first line, the fourth line or any one in between.

I have liked the kid since his draft year. I think he has future 3rd line center written all over him, and a possible letter one day.

For sure, he is a true leader, always has been. SOme people are 'lead by example' types, and there's no question his hustle and hard work is infectious and sparks whatever team he has played for. BUT he is also very vocal on the ice, he's a cerebral player that knows the game very well and is an excellent communicator on the ice in all situations.

With Tavares and Cizikas they have a couple of very mature young kids to lead the locker room for a long time.

FWIW if I may, these are qualities that I think very highly of and allow players to achieve more than perhaps they otherwise would have, and a BIG reason why I am So very high on Ryan Strome and Anders Lee. I think Reinhart and Pelech may take the next level in leadership next season if they are allowed to return to Juniors.

Not only do you post great highlights, no doubt you know your stuff, perfectly said.

No one should be surprised with Casey. He needs to be on the second line. I think he can be a 20 goal scorer if given the chance. Casey has been a winner everywhere he goes. A nice two way player who is a top six guy on every team in the league.

Apparently, playing on line 4 with Reasoner would turn Mario Lemieus into Joel Rechlitz.

I wanna see him run with this. He has a GREAT shot and good eyes and plays a good two way game. Can he man the second line yet? Maybe not yet, but he sure is using his opportunity on line 4 to play some really solid hockey.

The future....he'll have a great forecheck and well rounded game to bring when he's counted on for more offense. Now what does that mean?

Well, when Strome is ready, he's not gonna have a Matt Moulson shooting machine but Strome will instead have a guy who can open up ice, protect on defense and allow Strome room to add more offense.

Which is why getting the right guy for JT's other wing is so critical. {no, not anyone can just play with Tavares....and I'll wager Boyes is a better fit than anout anyone on NYI right now for that job} You give me a Martin whose shooting and passing improves and I'll give you the best compliment to JT and MM out there. GREAT defense.....and Martin playing with Cizikas....we're growing some solid complimentary wingers for the two young offensive studs we possess.

Zeekie was considered a late first round draft pick until the legal FUBAR interrupted. he was a steal for us in the 5th round, a high character kid with ability who was wrongly tagged with an accident gone bad.
As a ST they were grooming him as a winger more than a center, so he has some versatility which will help him out.
20 goal scorer might be too high a ceiling. As someone said, think Kris Draper, Kirk Maltby, Mike Keane, John Madden comparables. You win with guys like this and MM17.

i was thinking the same thing.

ive been happy with cizikas so far this year, he hustles, plays the game right, and has a scorers touch. he is a perfect 3/4 line guy, but i can see him playing in the top 6 in the future as a winger to keep teams honest.

I can agree him being in the top 6. But lets just hope that happens in an ISLES jersey. I hope snow values what he does and keeps him here.

You guys have Tim MacLean to thank for Casey Cizikas.

Believed in the guy when there was concern at how his past history would look if Isles drafted him.

Pounded the table for him and went to bat for him, even though it might have been just as easy for MacLean to take the easy and safe way out by not being an advocate for a player with a checkered past.

Moral courage- one more key ingredient in a scout...and he was the driving force behind Matt Martin too.

He's responsible for Cizikas AND Martin?

Guy deserves a promotion.
