Nothing "unbelievable" about putting your top powerplay on the powerplay. The only thing bush league is giving your opponent a free pass just because they're having a bad night, no. Pile it on, please the fans, even if it the game ends 18-0. No problem with resting your top guns a little when the game is out of reach for the opponent but at least keep trying. It's not elementary school, there's no participation trophy. As for the amateur goalie, it's a gift to the guy, showboating as nothing to do with it.

I don't have a problem with the ebug ( Toronto holds the most iconic ebug game for the wrong reasons). I do think the cockiness and gloating was a bit much, and couldn't believe Keefe lost it on the officials when up 5-1. They did look like a team not taking the game seriously when just days from the playoffs.

It took me 10 mins reading this thread to realize Chris Wideman is NOT Dennis Wideman. I was going to say how classless his shootout fail was....years ago.

Who cares about Toronto running up the score and putting in their emergency backup as an honorary gesture. And it was only for a min? You would figure they had him out for a period to be so mad. 1 min?

The PP thing doesn’t bother me either.

It’s not so much about sportsmanship as it is about:

1. Rewarding your bottom six guys for their hard work.

2. Giving your top guys a rest.

If Keefe wants the top unit to get more practice in before the post-season, that’s his prerogative.

If the Habs want to turn it into bulletin board material or something, that’s theirs, but it’ll have to be up on that board for six months.

Complaining about it publicly just highlights how badly your team played in that game.

Leafs started their 2nd PP unit towards the end of the game. Half of the 1st unit changed in with 20 seconds left and scored.
They didn't bring in the goalie to rub salt in the wounds. They wanted to give an Ontario born kid a minute in the NHL. He called it a "dream come true".
Get some class Wideman.

You said it yourself they were up 7-1 why risk injury to Samsonov in the final minute? especially since he already had a slight scare in the 2nd period.

MAYBE if it was 7-0 and he could get the shutout you keep him in but that opportunity was gone.
