Dude, do you even realize that your own link qualify Tanev like a middle pairing guy role?

Dude, it doesn't.

"Chris Tanev is the best shutdown defensemen in the NHL"

Pair him with a defender who compliments him and you've got a top pairing that would compete with any other top pairing in the league. Also, his offensive flaws are a bit exaggerated to make a point here.

I doubt McCarron is worth that much anymore, and the Canucks could probably get more assets back for a 26 yr old #2-#3 defenseman

That deal is alot of wishful thinking ,the price for good defenders in this league is sky high

I don't see how his offensive flaws could be exaggerated when there's roughly 100 defenseman who produce at a higher clip than him and he's being presented as a top tier defenseman.

Chris Tanev has never played more than 70 games in an NHL season... He's a Band-Aid boy at its finest. No way he's worth that much.

Is McCarron even relevant anymore?

yes. he's exactly what habs need - huge centre with 40-50 pt upside. only question is who does he replace between desharnais and plekanec. he was a call up because of injuries last year. habs want him to play a full year in the AHL. He's only 21. 6'6 235 pound C's take longer to develop..there was a recent article that apparently when team's talk trade with bergevin, he's the forward everyone wants

I kinda like Tanev, and I don't think they will move him. Personally don't think Montreal needs defencemen they are good as they are.

If the Canucks start to unload dmans, the top of their list will not be Tanev.
