Not to upset anyone but, how does this work out for Montreal?
Chris Tanev for McCarron and Montreal late 2017 1st

Heh?Tanev isn't worth half that much. Huge overpayment for MTL.

First off. Tanev is hurt again. And they haven't announced how long he's out. Second. That's a lot to give up for a top 4 guy that brings zero offence. The 1st is fine. But adding one of Montreals top prospects is to much. And finally. Montreal only has $2.5 m in cap space and Tanev has a $4.5m hit. So no, it doesn't work for Montreal.
Aside from the broken foot which is not really an issue (wait 5 weeks to make the trade).....we can make some adjustments to make it work......
TANEV + JORDAN SUBBAN for McCarron + 2017 1st + cash dump + plus
The plus from Montreal depends on the size of the cash dump = Juulsen?
Maybe some retention
Point is you can make it work
The original idea was born out of an article where I read that Montreal wanted to give Webber SOME HELP ON THE Right Side SO he doesn't burnout or get hurt because of over use.

A late 1st and a prospect who looks like a middle sixer is too much for a top 4 dman signed long term? WOW, and people say Tanev is over rated.....

Easy pass for the Canucks.
McCarron is a 3rd liner at best and that 1st rounder has little value if Price stays healthy.
When the player is below top 6 production offensively there becomes a point where it doesn't matter how good he his in his own zone.
Other than last season, Vlasic has had similar offensive production to Tanev and I would venture the Sharks have been pretty happy with his role on their team over the years. A rock solid defensive defenseman that puts up 20 points is worth more to his team than a 40 point defenseman that is a liability in his own zone.
