So been a ways for a while.

Figured this news would come about sooner or later. The writing was on the wall for this move to be made, considering his contract, age and play as of late.

Am I upset about it? No, not really - unless the Rangers get fleeced. Ill be happy for the good memories he and the teams he was on gave us. He is an alltime Ranger. No doubt about that.

Kreider is arguably the best home grown forward talent this team has had in the modern era. He came in super hyped and pretty much delivered. He was a freak of nature physically, i wasnt upset with the extension he signed because of that - but it is time to move on.

He was pretty much a consistent 20g guy who showed up when it mattered, for the most part - and then found a niche in front of the net and his goal totals exploded. Still think hes the best at it in the league. There needs to be a premium placed on that. But mentally and how he fit into the team dynamic soured over time. He had the potential to be a captain but I think he was too introspective and quirky for his own good in that regard.

Drury needs to get a top prospect and a 1st at the very least if hes going to unload the contract and not take any roster player back. I know there is some hate surrounding him and there is some truth to it, but i would not be suprised if he had another 35-40 goal season or two in him playing on the right PP unit. You need to pay for that, even if its just potential.

It sounds like we are getting nothing noteworthy back besides cap space so that sucks. Yes CK had a down year but he was injured all year. His previous production makes his contract pretty reasonable

It's a disgrace how the Rangers treat their homegrown stars.
Drury and Dolan will throw mountains of money and term for the next flavor of the month only to have that player fail miserably.

By November, when this team can't get out of its own way and Mika is sulking like a petulant child, everyone will be longing for Kreider's presence in front of the net while praying McDavid some how becomes available.

Total clown f***ing shoe factory.

Helped you out.

Kreider is Graves without a Cup. I’m a little worried about what Panarin and Zibanejad look like without the presence of Kreider’s professionalism and work ethic. Kreider is the least talented of the three and the easiest to move, so I understand the logic.

Kreider leaving and Mika staying is pure Rongos.
Kreider leaving might lead to Mika leaving. If his best friend is no longer there, he may be more open to moving. I would rather keep Kreider, but his contract is moveable and changes need to be made, so you have to start somewhere.

Graved always gave his all and wasnt a bitch in The locker room. Saying kreider is graves is a disservice to graves.

We will never get an answer to this question but it sticks in my craw why Kreider never became captain. It was so obvious he should be the guy after Lundqvist was bought out. Whether it was management driven to not name him, he refused it, or his teammates didnt believe in him. Its the big question I really need to know. The air of mystery around Kreider has always been weird. I feel like its worth investigating now that the book on the Lundqvist era is closed.

From what I remember CK campaigned for Trouba along with others otherwise he would’ve been

When did CK bitch? Also this idea that he didn’t give his all is BS. CK himself has said he would overthink things but that’s different than not giving effort. I mean I know you don’t like the guy but be a tad bit fair
