Laser beam of a shot eh? That shot shoot test goalies 3-4 times a game.

Not saying this from a skill perspective, but from a performance v potential standpoint... this is Alex Kovalev all over again... at least early on his career.

Complaining about Kreider is dumb. He's not a playmaker, he's a scorer. Those guys are often, sometimes even intentionally, invisible. By the end of the season, assuming no horrible scoreless streak, Kreider will have over 20 goals. That is excellent for a 22-year-old.

Hopefully he'll take another step forward next year and for a couple years after that, as a guy his age should, and will eventually turn into a 30-30 player. If scoring 30 goals means he also has to be invisible sometimes, that's something the team would be glad to have.

MaxPac and JVR are effective every game, and are match up nightmares. It took them till 24 to get there, so there's "time" for Kreider to get there. I just want it to happen yesterday because it helps this team win today.

I think Kreider is doing very well. It's hard to hold that talent back. There are oscillations in what we see, up and down, but to me that is the encouraging part. It isn't some mercurial streak that we will never see again, it's a more measured progress. He is a presence.

Seventeen goals, he might hit 20 before the 82 game mark. That's pretty good for his tenure in NY. I'll take that all day.

He's on pace for 20 goals and 45 points in 75 games as a 22 year old rookie. Those are great numbers. He's had a wonderful season. He could easily be a 60 point player in his prime.

Do Rangers fans hate on every player? An inconsistent young player? Stop the press! The guy had a huge jump in his development this year, why not be patient with him?

Just a quick comment for now...

Can we all agree that last night's tying goal was possibly Chris' best Pavel Bure impression to date?

Thing is that Chris needs to get more shots on net like that. He sometimes defers too much and looks to be the perfect teammate who makes the pass and all of that but really he just needs to not pass up an open shot. He's got a real good shot...not exactly a snipers shot that will get him 40 goals on that alone, but it's quick and hard and makes it tough for goalies. Just get that shot on net more often.

20 goals in his rookie season would be great, and I think 30 goals over an entire season is well within his reach as he continues to develop. I want to see him continue being more physical and a pest. Throw those big hits if they're there, don't worry about penalties, and keep using that speed to hound puck carriers and create turnovers.

If he improves next season then really it's a damn good pick and he's a very good player

OP is a notorious Kreider hater

Played a great game tonight

He's still a developing player, he's going to be inconsistent
Exactly Wolfy isnt a kreider fan which is fine. But since the return of the Olympic break he has been pretty good. Kreider is still learning also Stepan has had a inconsistent year until recently so when stepan is on his game it only helps nash and kreider

Hoping he can become a Jeff Skinner type player. Skinner's best season he had 31 goals, 32 assists. That's about what Kreider can do.

Absolutely. Kid is on a nice pace to be a stud for years to come. Some people act like the guy is 28.

I'd be real happy with a Kreider who consistently puts up points in the 30-30-60 range. 30 goals is nothing to sneeze at...I thinkw e all know he isn't an elite player who can do it all by himself, but a guy who can pot 30 goals year in and out is very very valuable in this days NHL.

You still fail to understand what I'm trying to say. Where is his physical play?

Kreider should be a force out there. But in my opinion he isn't...anymore. We really need some gritty players.

But as a forward like all the others he's doing fine for his age.

It's there. He was throwing the body frequently against Buff in WPG last game so he's clearly not afraid of bigger guys or throwing hits on them. Just because he's not running around looking for someone to hit doesn't mean he doesn't play a physical game when the opportunity presents itself.

Shameless not so subtle brag about the books you read.
Oh, hahaha, oops. Busted -- didn't realise that post might look so obnoxious! It's a great book, by the way, which I read as a teenager, like CK.

Seriously, though, Kreids is doing just fine. He's on pace for 21 goals and 40+ points as a rookie, which is great. If he goes on another hot streak, he could significantly add to those numbers.

He sucks. Trade him now. :shakehead

This thread is dumb.

I'm convinced Rangers fans are bi-poler.

SATHER SUCKS AT DRAFTING! Sather trades draft picks...WHY IS HE TRADING DRAFT PICKS? THIS IS HOW YOU BUILD!

RANGERS NEVER DEVELOP YOUNG TALENT!
KREIDER ISN'T GOING TO DEVELOP INTO ANYTHING! HE'S NOT A PHYSICAL FORCE ANYMORE!

Kreider is what? 22? He's playing his first full season in the NHL. He's on their first line and it's not like his linemates are lighting the world on fire. He has the makings of a 35 goal scorer in the league. Leave him alone and let him develop. Jeez.

To expand on this physical play isn't just about giving hits, it is also being able to absorb hits. Being able to not be moved when in front of the net or not being able to get knocked off the puck by a defender.

He absolutely is getting better at this, want to see a good example watch some Jagr highlights when he skates with the puck behind the net. He was almost impossible to knock off the puck in his prime, that is the type of player we should be hoping Kreider turns into

He's holding back, presumably under orders. That's obvious.

Remember, earlier this year some guy ran into HIM, then bounced off the boards, and Chris got the penalty, something like boarding, just for standing there.

Since then he has toned down/been more selective.
It's called experience.

Don't worry about him.
As for the rest of this roster....

The "moar hitz" crowd has been out in force lately.

Kreider's fine. We're not getting Lucic 2.0. Get over it.

Kreiders "struggling" is more a result of Nash's and Stepans inconsistency, it's his first season as a regular and he is still learning the game. He got the physical tools, but he needs to learn positioning and timing to be really effective. Kreider is not one of the problems on this team imo, it's Stepan/Richards/Nash that needs to take their game to the next level in order for this team to compete. If they do, the rest will follow.

Well, he was invisible again against the Sharks. He's not the only one, but being on the 1st line he's one of those who needs to show up on a consistent basis.

And I wouldn't mind if he's throwing his weight around like he did before, I know he's not a fighter, but now he's turning soft just like Nash. And that's too bad.

We don't exactly have the toughness of Bruins 1st line, and we got owned by them this season...
