Del Zotto got sent down for a long period of time, which is where Kreider would be if the team weren't missing Nash and Asham.

I'd guess Torts doesn't like the way Kreider has been playing and I don't blame him. For a guy who is so fast and so strong, I rarely if ever see him beat anybody with his speed or strength. He looks scared out there. I don't care if the coach goes hard on him, he needs to man up and play the game the best he can. People are making a ton of excuses for this guy because they love to hate the coach.
Kreider's speed has been there lately as well as his physicality so you gotta be fair. The only mistake he made was teh penalty but dumbass boyle makes one every agme and costs us a goal usually. miller also does it and turns the puck over constantly

So Kreider can make one little mistake, playing with the likes of Mashinter, and be benched for the game. Meanwhile, Beaver can float, fumble every pass, and have 7 turnovers per game, and yet he is spoonfed 20 minutes a game.

That pitiful backcheck that he was gliding all the way that he wound up getting a penalty, shows me all I need to know, Kreider doesn't get what it takes to be play on this team. send him to the AHL. JT Miller gets it and he's only 19.

Hell, even Miller is being allowed to make his mistakes and not always benched/scratched.

Kreider is not a Tortorella favorite.

Simple, Kreider is way more skilled than Miller ;)

I kid! I kid!

But seriously, huge double standard. I think Torts trusts his own mind when it comes to which players buttons he can push, and how to push them, and who to lay off. The thing with Kreider is that Torts has no confidence in him in the defensive zone. Kreider and his linemates take a defensive shift that is a complete **** show, the game gets close, they don't see anymore ice.

He'd be much better off playing consistent top-6 minutes in the AHL. At this point, as long as Nash and Asham are hurting, it's time to bring up Newbury, or Segal and let Kreider go down.

I mean, when CT came up and played that one game I thought he outplayed Miller, yet no hesitation to get Thomas back to the AHL when Powe came back. I thought he earned a second game.

How about miller and his lazy penalty or his lazy defense on that second goal

Last year, I noticed his speed probably once or twice a game. This year I've noticed it maybe once or twice all together. He's skating alright, but not the way that he's capable of. He's been physical but not strong. Dude is a physical freak and he almost never wins puck battles.

I agree about Boyle taking dumb penalties too, but Boyle isn't supposed to be a huge difference maker on offense. Kreider is and he's failing at that miserably. Miller has been far better than Kreider in my opinion. He makes mistakes, but he hustles all the time, he hits hard, he takes shots. With Kreider it's not just about taking a penalty, it's about not playing hard enough and then taking a penalty. If you're a liability on two fronts like that, someone else is going to get your ice time. I'm fine with that. He needs to start playing harder in every facet of the game.

Miller, Kreider, and Mashinter don't belong in the NHL. Period.

(Neither do Bickel, Gilroy, or Boyle).

I think Kreider's struggles are overrated. He's playing like a rookie with major upside, and he's only getting 5 minutes a night. It's ridiculous.

As bad as our PP has been, you'd think he'd get a look. What's the downside?

this crap about not playing hard is ********* IMO.

there are a few here who are anti-kreider just liek there are others who are anti-boyle or even anti-hank

There is no double-standard. Yes, of course Miller makes mistakes, but they are usually mistakes of aggression, where hes gotten himself into a difficult area of the ice. Kreider is making mistakes too, but hes often doing it while floating. Thats the difference between mistakes you can deal with and mistakes you cant.

Kreider has often refused to engage and his minutes are shrinking because of it. I really think that hit from Orpik set him back a ways. It happens. The AHL is the best medicine right now.

I am usually a guy who will say let the kids play and make their mistakes, but in Kreider's case, he looks lost. He's out of position, he's hardly moving his feet and he's a second too slow on everything he does.

I'd be fully in favor of sending him to Hartford if I wasn't completely convinced that Gernander's the one who ****ed with his head to the point it is now. We had a kid who was aggressive in the offensive zone and making things happen last playoffs, but who would make mistakes on his defensive coverage - in part because he was so aggressive. Now, he's been so beaten down that he stands around the ice trying to figure out where he should be and winds up being way too passive on BOTH ends of the ice.

If they Grachev him I'm gonna freak.

here we are there you go here we are again lol

Just for the record, I'm not anti-Kreider. I think he was a godsend last year and I think he's a very exciting prospect. I think he has the potential to have the wheels of a Hagelin/oldtime Gaborik and an amount of physical strength well beyond either of them. Having said that, he's been disappointing in both the AHL and NHL this season. Like the team as a whole, it'd be one thing if he struggled while playing his heart out, but IMO he hasn't been playing that way.

I think he can put it together still. I just don't think that he's been playing in a way that makes his lack of ice time some sort of crime. When he gets it together, he's going to be a hell of a player.

I dont know if its Gernander who messed the kid up as much as the hype and media attention he recieved after coming into the POs and playing the way he did. Wouldnt discount the effect that might have had on a young kid. The lack of energy he has shown makes me feel like he thinks he dosnt need to give it his 100%

I don't understand why after the benchings and the demotion and everything he still looks like he is playing without any urgency. I understand that scrambling and Hagelin-ing around is not his game. But the coach clearly wants him to move his feet more. Kreider can at least put on a show for him.

Simple, concise, and explains the core issue well.

He is simply a terrible hockey player aside from the shot and skating ability.

Miller, even with his struggles, looks better than Kreider because he's playing with better players and is actually seeing the ice.

I'm so done with Tortorella, I want to see him gone and I could really care less for who. Kreider needs to be playing more, whether it be at the NHL level or the AHL level.

I die a little inside every time Torts glues Kreider to the bench

Nash is out but our only other offensive big body winger gets to play 5 mins. Only Torts
