I understand that Krieder is having a down year. Big time down. Krieder is struggling and now he's a healthy scratch.

But ask yourself the same question about Manson. And Wood.

Avs would need to add significantly to the deal. manson for kreider makes sense. Wood and his contract wpuld cost the Avs significant assets to get rid of. He's barelly an NHL player and signed for another 4 ywars

He’s better than you give him credit for. As long as he can stay healthy and skate and forecheck, he will be a useful player. And with the cap going up, the 2.5 AAV won’t be so terrible. You make it sound like he’s Josh Anderson...similar skill set but makes a lot more.

I think they’re saying we don’t need an older forward on a large contract when Rantanen is due and will be hard enough to extend.
We do need the older defender who fills his role efficiently however.
