Chris Kreider Part II: OT God

If he could be as active as Hagelin he would possibly be a fantastic fit next to Stepan and Nash
to be honest when he played with stepan last year he was always active and tonight was the first time he was repaired with stepan and he scores an ot goal

THIS is the way (maybe the only way) to beat the Bruins.

Speed.

I don't know that you can be more physical that they are, but chip pucks behind their slow-ish D, and race to the net. That is how the Leafs took them to OT in Game 7.

Kreider is a much better player now than last year at this time. He is competing and winning puck battles. Making passes in tight spots. Using his size and strength. Hopefully he has a few more goals in his stick. Go back to Boston and pot a few. Good history for him in that building playing for BC.

Kreider was flying last night, using his speed to his advantage, unafraid to try and be a difference maker in 13:50 of ice. You watched him as a bookend across from Nash and could imagine the future even as the present was playing out and the immediate past was behind the BC Kid.

“I don’t worry about things that are out of my control,†Kreider said. “It’s an important part of the process of playing hockey.

“I think identifying what I can and can’t control is something I’m pretty good at. I hope so.â€

Scoring goals in the playoffs is something Kreider is pretty good at, too. It happens every spring.

Chara was horrible last night, great deflection by Kreids...Torts should have been building him up all year instead of tearing him down

Kreider is Kadri two years ago. All the size, speed and skill but no hockey brains. I thought he would come around a little faster being obviously a smart kid graduating from BC.

Problem was every mistake he made he would get benched

********. He just never proved he deserved the ice time. I'm sorry, but his biggest contribution before the playoffs was falling on his ass every other play. Why do people want to re-write history with this kid so often? He was downright horrible most games and a complete non-factor. He had a VERY mediocre year in the AHL to the point where people began questioning his status as a prospect.

Kreider can earn back a bit of credibility with a strong finish to the season.

According to some probably. There is always an excuse for him. He's immune from criticism because all of his struggles are on Torts and none on him.
Thats not true. Nobody has made excuses for him. he is a young player who is learning so him struggling was expected esppecially in a lockout shortened season. However I have said that he should play with stepan and nash for a while now. The last few games he has been bumped up with those guys and has done well

You are wrong, after his toe injury he played very well in Hardtford, he was on a tear.
And who are these people who were questioning his status?
this is what Torts said about him at the time.
“When he started scoring some goals there, there were still some things in his game that [Whale coach Ken Garnander] and those guys down there want him to work on,†Tortorella said Tuesday. “But the reports on him are good. Over the weekend, the two games they won, we got some really good reports with him.â€

Look noone is saying (or noone should be saying) Kreider doesn't have his flaws and did not at times play flat out terrible this year.

But there was a significant amount of mind ****ing and over analysis done to this kid over the last 6 months, which is something the franchise has not done in a long while. Hockey is such an emotional game. Confidence is a tremendous part of it. And no other young player the Rangers brought along recently got his chain yanked around as much as Kreider. Maybe you can make a case for Del Zotto...but when they felt he needed seasoning they let him get his seasoning. And you can argue that that scenario aint looking particularly rosy.

Most everyone is questioning his status as a truly elite prospect after a bad year.

All I see from you is more excuses. We saw all kinds of excuses for why he was mediocre in college. Now more for why he is mediocre in the AHL.

Disagree. The Rangers just simply didnt have 12 bodies to fill all the forward spots until after the Gaborik trade. That was the reason Kreider and Miller were up for as long as they were. There was no chain yanking involved.

He's more suited to the NHL.

Once again nobody is making excuses but i repect people who are more objective instead of hating for the sake of hating or the other way around

Who is most everyone? Do you have names? this site still had him as top prospect, do you have links to others?
I am not making excuses, i am just stating facts.
