Chris Kreider/JT Miller Discussion Thread (2/16: Kreider recalled to NHL)

Save for Del Zotto, all are entirely different situations than what Miller is facing. Sauer, McD and Kreider were all 21 or older before seeing NHL action. Miller is still a teenager.

Del Zotto played his way onto the roster and filled a huge need for this team. He was tremendous. If Miller can continue to play the way he played before last night, they would likely find a spot for him. If he can't, they'd probably prefer to send him down before his confidence gets ruined.

There's a difference between filling a hole, and filling it effectively. Miller did not do that last night. If he cannot find that extra gear, it's better to let him work his way back up from the Whale. That's how you develop prospects properly.

They weren't conservative with MDZ, Kreider, McDonagh and Sauer. None were sent down after being brought up. 3 of the 4 are D-men with more responsibilities than Miller.

obviously Miller will be more effective against bottom teams like the islanders who lack depth and less effective against top teams like Boston who can roll four effective lines. I'd like to see him stick but won't be mad if he's sent down after Thursdays game.

Yeah I forgot DZ got sent down, but it was not in his rookie season.

I'm going to say that CK won't ever score 40 because he is a New York Ranger and there must be some kind of snake venom in the stitching of the jersey because no one scores 40 on this ****ing team. Gaborik and Jagr should be given statues.

Yes that's an exaggeration, but Brian Boyle should not be a top 9 player on a good team. Bottom line. I have lost a lot of respect for Torts. Seriously, guys like Boyle are everything that was wrong with last year's team.

Boyle will have 10 blocks tonight, because that's all he can do as Tavares skates circles around him as he's pinned in the defensive zone.

You really think Kreider has been good the last couple games? I don't. Give the kid a night off to watch and get his **** together. It's not the end of the world. Not sure why you're over-reacting. Swapping CK for Boyle for one game isn't going to have that much impact.

Uhh if it ruins our winning streak then it can have a HUGE impact; this team's psyche is so fragile...

The problem is that he looks 100 times better in the NHL than the AHL. Kenny G just doesn't get the most out of young guys. Even Kreider looks better in the NHL, though still not great. We need a better coach down there.

Feel bad for kreider. he has played better defense lately and yet JT Miller who made so many mistakes last game stays on and boyle comes in for CK. I feel Torts is wasting Kreider's talent since he has showed a lot playing with richards/stepan
