Chris Kreider/JT Miller Discussion Thread (2/16: Kreider recalled to NHL)

Don't mind Kreider being sent down he needs to play. Curious to see who gets called up in his place. I think at this point Kreider can offer more than Miller but I guess the staff was more enamored with Miller's game.

CK down, and Miller should be next. I'd rather see him go play in the AHL while he's had some success and swagger, than for him to be gassing out night after night and riding the bench in the 3rd periods then finally being sent down.

We can get good minutes out of Palmieri and Boyle in the meantime, and between Nash, Richards, Gaborik, Cally, Stepan, Hagelin, and Pyatt we shouldn't have a problem scoring goals in the interim. As playoff time approaches, and JT and CK build on their AHL successes, maybe they can fill out our scoring depth and bring a ton of energy and enthusiasm.

Don't need a call-up. 12 forwards on the roster.

Not surprised Torts isnt a big fan of kreider so of course miller was gonna stay

Curious to know your opinion -31-, do you think Miller is NHL ready from what you have seen? I honestly do not. Can he fill the spot? Yes. More than that? I don't see it.

I would really rather they send both down to continue working on their games, especially their offense and see who can fit between Mashinter/Ferreiro/Palmieri for now.

I think he should be in the AHL, but I think if he was going down we would have heard about it at the same time as Kreider.

I would definitely support Kreider and Miller going down and Ferriero coming up.

Alright, so we are on the same page. I agree, odd that Kreider was sent down now, maybe Torts wants Miller to get in another practice before going down? Would seem very odd.

Kreids is better off getting first line minutes in the A than fourth line minutes with the Rangers. He'll be back.

They should give Ferriero the callup. He deserves another look.

I dont mind him going to the AHL for a little while but i still think that Torts will never give the kid a legit chance for some reason. Hes a rookie so his defense isnt going to be great right away but i just have a horrible feeling we will trade him at some point and he will blossom somewhere else.

He's looked more NHL ready than Kreider, this season anyway.

I don't think so. I think they want him to play some major minutes and work on being more consistent. He is a physical freak. He needs to use those strengths consistently.

Can someone explain to me what Torts' deal is with telling guys like Kreider and Gaborik to watch how Hags plays? Maybe he should have told Rupp to watch how Malkin plays. Those guys don't have the skillset of Hags. Torts will always be disappointed in Kreider if he expects him to replicate Hags' game.

Disagree completely with this move, but what ever. Have to remind myself there's a reason those guys where they are, and a reason where I am.

Well if you take into consideration that Steve Eminger suited up at Wing during a playoff game...maybe these guys really don't know what they are doing

Yea or tell Percy Harvin to run more like Jerome Bettis or Nate Robinson to play more like Shaq or Derek Jeter to hit more like Adam Dunn

He wants Kreider to be assertive all over the ice. That's not asking too much.

Simple Torts has his favorites. I mean i have talked to many Rangers fans and they ahve said similar things. I mean look at miller he lets the kid play through mistakes but not Kreider who IMO has much more upside. If kreider played awful then fine but he didnt play awful.

The only thing I've heard that he's told them to duplicate is how Hagelin moves his feet. Every player should do that.

Im sorry but thats crap IMO. Against the Bruins Krieder played better defense than people give him credit for. On play he helped stop a 2 on 1 against MDZ
