Lol, Drieger must of had so much fun collecting an NHL paycheck for a few weeks, and watching the guys in high spirits going on a winning streak.

Plus he got to go to Cali in February

Seriously. I'm sure he's not complaining.

I think they've got Hammond slated for Buffalo too so for now...Anderson is the back-up...

Whaaaaaa! Love it.

We should keep Anderson on the bench until Hammond loses a game

We're back in the playoff race and Winnipeg will be a back-to-back coming in from Minnesota

Giving Anderson that game makes a lot of sense: to have a realistic shot at the playoffs we need to win every game on the road trip

Agreed. There will be a lot of pissed off people if Hammond wins against minny then Anderson loses to the jets

Why? Isn't how the game unfolds more important than who started in nets? Isn't that why the games are played?

What?

You ride the hot goalie until he cools off. You don't start Anderson just because. If Hammond wins again, and looks good doing it, you play him back to back. We absolutely need to win every game at this point.

It would be like sitting a rookie forward after scoring a goal in his last 5 games just because a veteran was ready to play again.

Ya, I agree. We've made this mistake quite a few times in the past of not riding the hot goalie and it seemed to bite us in the ass

I agree with running the hot goalie... But Anderson (who is our starter and a really good one) on tbe back to back... 5 game of road trip... Spelling Hammond off what would be his 8th game in a row is not a bad idea regardless. At some point Anderson starts again no matter what.

Makes sense to me.

Let Anderson start against a crappy Buffalo team so he can hopefully & more easily register a win. Ride the hot goalie like a dolphin at Marineland.

You almost always start the backup on a b2b situation, especially when said backup is your starter returning from injury.

Absolutely nothing to see here. So many of you forget how great Andy has been ALL SEASON.

Except Aragorn, who can't seem to see Andy at all...

Great is an over used word, if he was so great why were we a bottom dwelling team most of the yr? Most are saying that the Habs wouldn't be where they are if Price wasn't playing great, why are we not where they are if Anderson has been great?

IMO he has been hot & cold, played very good in some games & allowed some weak goals in others. Some games he deserved to win because he played so well & in others he was the reason we lost, hot & cold. Mine you the team in a number of games in front of him didn't help either but I can also remember the team playing well & him allowing a weak goal to lose the game. Reminds me at times of Lalime.

Look at his stats, look at the team we have, that should answer your hab comparison.

He IS the reason why we aren't a bottom 5 team right now.

No he's not. Hammond who just won 5 in a row has us talking about the playoffs since we haven't won more than two or three in a row all yr & maybe only once. Before this winning streak we were right next door to the bottom 5 & talking about winning the lottery or drafting Strome or Crouse. I think the whole team is playing much better now & maybe if they would have played better as a whole earlier Anderson might have a better win record but he didn't steal very many games, if any that I can remember although he played well in some. Hammond on the other hand has stolen at least 3 of the last 5 games, if not all 5 & winning 5 games in a row is something this team hasn't done all yr.

Anderson certainly stole a few games early on and the last one I can remember was the 2-0 win over Jersey a little while back

Dude, you're cray. The ONLY reason why weren't cellar dwellers this year is the elite play of Anderson. He doesn't steal games, in your eyes, because he's not allowed to. Just like small players can't be valuable, because you don't allow them to.

Ha! He was top three in the league in save percentage and you were arguing that he was hot and cold and prone to weak goals all season, and the hilarity continues...

Not really much point in arguing with you on the subject.

Discussion's far enough from Chris Driedger that I feel okay with closing this thread until the next time he's called up. Redirect to another appropriate thread, please.

Andy has aggravated his hand injury, Driedger has been recalled on an emergency basis:

Roster update: The #Sens have recalled goaltender Chris Driedger on an emergency basis from the Evansville IceMen (ECHL).

#Sens Chris Driedger will replace goaltender Craig Anderson, who aggravated his hand injury.

Hope for Anderson's sake they shut him down for the season. Hammond can play out the stretch. If we make the playoffs, he'll be the one who brought us. And shutting him down would allow Anderson the time he needs to make sure he's back at 100% for next year.
