Does anyone know how good hofer is? Or are the Oilers only considering pursuing him because of what the Blues did to us last year?
He looks like a repeat of Ville Husso from 4 years ago, backup in a cushy spot behind Binnington.

I can't see the Oilers throwing in with someone so unproven, or wasting time on petty feuds over their own mistakes.

Trade for Gibson and sign hart at league minimum for the back up role. Don't see to many options if any for Hart or any of those guys involved with that Jr scandal

Hart and others if acquitted are expected to be suspended by the league. If guilty they won’t be playing hockey in the NHL for many years if ever. Stauffer also is on record as saying he highly doubts that’s a road on which the Oilers will travel. (Pursuing Hart)

I don’t think he will amount to anything different than KY is what I started to say. I followed up saying that they are similar in stature and current offensive output in the same league.

But I’ve been told because he wears his same weight differently on his frame, I should expect different outcomes.

No one knows. It’s all just conjecture. The silliness is people trying to say because he has same height and weight but wears it different we can expect different careers.

And then I followed up that regardless of this, Savoie is not the panacea to the Oilers needs.
I think the more interesting question is how unlikely that Savoie is anywhere near the NHL player that McLeod is. It would be very unlikely for him for instance to match Mcleod in career pts or intangibles.

Its crazy to me that NHL clubs would spend a good first pick on players this small but thats the way the league had been operating for years. That said Yams was way smaller, 153lbs when we fist got him. Its crazy that he's listed as 178lbs now, maybe put on some muscle to try to stick in league. Really he's a complete bust by now. Was a poor pick when we threw away a first on him.

Yeah I think we already played that card with the Bowman hire. Add in Kane and Perry and the ice could not be more thin

Just looking at the two guys you can see the difference. I recall one of the talking heads saying Yamamoto's 5'9 was very generous, and very slight as you noted. The guy literally looked like a child on the ice. Savoie is small, but not that small.

If Hart is found not guilty then what's the issue?
I can't see that happening. Kane and Perry situations are nothing like hart. They both had addiction issues and Kane's ex wife is batshit crazy.

Bowman had the blessing from beach himself and its more Chevy and coach q that were responsible.

Hart, even if he is innocent, is clearly an awful human being. It would contrast all the community stuff Edmonton is trying to be known for. It won't be happening.

What would be the justification? "well technically he was found not guilty of rape".

Gibson and Demko would be of interest. Not sure about Hofer. Ideally we'd get 2 solid goalies and let them battle for the net. If healthy Demko is the best of the bunch. I'd keep Pickard as the #3 and maybe consider carrying 3 goalies if the other 2 are injury prone. Also sign a new #3/#4 for Bako so that we have actual options behind our #1 and #2 goalies. A Gibson/Hart tandem might make the most sense fiscally.

The offensive output part of this is just blatantly false. Yamo’s last year in junior he put up 64 points in 40 games versus Savoie who had 71 in 34 games, and their first year pro Yamo was 18 points in 27 games in Bakersfield versus Savoie who was 54 in 66 games. And aside from actual production, the two of them play very different styles of game. For lack of a better way to describe it Yamo played like a mini Hyman where his offense was heavily reliant on being right place right time and getting to the open spots around the net. Now that worked well for him in junior but gets much harder when going up against men. Savoie plays the slippery style of game you see smaller guys have actual success with in the NHL(think Gaudreau, Caufield etc).

It's been awhile since I've read about the incident. Why would he be an awful human being if he's innocent? Because he didn't report what allegedly happened? Just wondering.
