Claude Julien if he's done in Boston

Other than that I'm not sure. I've heard rumours AV might be done in NYR but he's a little too similar to Boudreau for my liking although he has a better playoff track record

Well, there are some REALLY bad options out there, like Brent Sutter and Ron Wilson. Then there's Marc Crawford, who left Zürich (NLA) after his contract ended in April. Crawford does have a LOT of experience, but I don't know what his coaching game looks like these days.

Zurich just had a rather spectacular playoffs collapse with a loaded roster. At least Crawford would fit right in.

Considering Murray's fetish to copy the team that beat him, and McGuire's pumping of Housley's tires... maybe we'll pick Phil Housley?

There is no strong market. Why wouldn`t they come after me, i read HF every day so obviously i`m pretty damn knowledgable about hockey

Exactly this.

It was the first time the regular season champ got swept in the first round since the introduction of the current playoff format. Mainly caused by horrific coaching and Crawford refusing to adapt his game plan.

I wouldn't mind giving Kevin Dineen an interview. He's coached Getzlaf and Perry briefly before and IIRC they thought very highly of him as a coach. Maybe he will help with our playoff issues.

I'm all for the Walrus too.

I said that about Bob Murray on the Reddit board and it got down voted so fast. All Murray does is try to copy the team that beat us and has a horrible offseason doing that and has to make up for it during the season.

I like Yawney a lot.

In the AHL, he's done wonders with virtually nothing - always prepping guys for the NHL at the same time.

Then he gets promoted to assistant at the NHL level and all he does is have the #1 pk and fewest goals allowed.

Yawney does have consistency with our youngings that went through the AHL system, mostly defensemen in Lindholm, Vatanen, and Manson, iirc, along with our goalies.

Wasn't Yawney god awful as a coach in the past though?

He hasn't coached in the NHL since he coached one and a half seasons from 05 to 07 in Chicago. Those rosters were godawful, I have no idea if he was part of the problem or a scape goat for their issues.

He's made playoffs 7 out of 9 years in AHL but has never made it past the second round.

Id like Travis Green - i think he will be this years John Hynes. Also about guys like John Stevens, Benoit Groulx, Luke Richardson, Sheldon Keefe.

I just don't want an NHL Retread, none of those types gets me excited.

I was really hoping for DeBoer last offseason as a Babs fallback. The Sharks made a great hire there, he would have been a great coach for our team

IIRC, Devils fans were kicking and screaming because he didn't play Larsson enough or at all.

That was weird I'll admit but I've always been impressed by what he did with some of those Devils teams that weren't amazing talent wise. He really got them to play his system to a T. How he got that 2011-2012 New Jersey roster to the Stanley Cup kind of boggles my mind

Burns just had a career year under him and Thornton had a Renaissance also this year.

I have posted, the coach will have to turn Getzlaf around. There is no system that can overcome a lack of effort by one of your leaders and your highest paid players.

John

I don't think lack of effort was a problem for Getzlaf in the Preds series.

It's a lack of effort in the offseason and at training camp that is Getzlaf's issue. Their in game effort is fine IMO. I remember Carlyle would put them through some insanely intense conditioning exercises at training camp and Boudreau didn't. I think that hard ass training mentality benefitted Getzlaf and Perry but actually was detrimental to other guys on the team. We need a balance but I'd lean towards the way Carlyle ran things. You need a coach who isn't afraid to crack the whip and get his best players in shape.

I'm not saying this is all the coaches responsibility though. It's absolutely pathetic that Getzlaf and Perry showed up out of shape this year despite being veteran leaders on an NHL team

The bolded is the biggest issue I have with RC. IIRC Teemu and Scotty pointed out that everyone was exhausted before the season even began and with the busy schedule there really wasn't much time to recover (especially true for the older guys). They also thought this was the main reason for the slow starts that RC's teams always seem to have. I remember Teemu saying that RC's strategy was a good one years ago when a lot of guys came to training camp out of shape but detrimental now that players actually train hard during the summer. (Sadly, it seems that Getzlaf is the exception to the rule.)
