I doubt they would know this before Scuderi resigns, however. Tough decision for the Kings. If they let Scuderi go *and* Mitchell doesn't come back, I don't like it at all.

I think Dean is probably going to assume Mitchell is not coming back. I really think if there was any possibility of Mitchell coming back next year we would be hearing stuff about his possibility to return in the post season like Gagne last year.

If only there were some way to graft Scuderi's hands onto Regehr's body.

Scudehr?

Regheri!

Scuds for me, I think we won't know how lucky we are to have him till he's gone.

Penns got eliminated early the year he left as they did not close the vacuum he left behind. If he has intentions on leaving DL better shore that up quickly or our D will look like it did in round 1 or worse.

Scuderi reminds me a lot of Norstrom. Older guy but makes the right read at the right time and does his job well without fanfare. Warrior.

Scuds, total warrior. But it may not be who they want rather who they can afford. DL has a lot of contracts to get negotiated and if Scuds wants 4 mill plus that might be more than DL can afford.
And it' not like there aren't teams out there overpaying for good D...
There was an article a couple days back about Mark Streit, that he doesn't want to stay with the Isles and is seeking a contract north of 5.5 . I don't think he'll get that but some team that needs a good, veteran D will overpay.
Geez the Pens gave up 2 2nds for Murray.

I want the Kings to keep Scuds but I think one of the reasons RR got a 2 year was the fact Mitchell is most likely done and DL isn't sure if he can sign Scuds.

I still can't believe the Flyers reuipped Timmonen for 6 mill this year

Scuds, the guy is so instrumental to our success. Sure, Regehr is more punishing but I think his shelf life is well past his prime. Scuds looks like he could easily play 4 or 5 more years, while RR is just about done...

It was an idea. I didn't say it was a good idea.

Scuderi has been a rock during the playoffs. Whether Mitchell comes back will play a role in whether Scuderi returns.

Scuds would be too expensive. I'd say his fmv is probably 4M-5M. My thinking is DL isn't going to pay a penny more than what he signed RR for.

Edit: I fully expect the pens to make a strong push for Scuds in the off season and frankly, I think that is where Scuds will end up.

His agent (and allot of others) completely agree with you. He wants and will get right around $3.8 to $4m per on his next contract. It will be a four year deal but it will happen (outside 5).

A good question is are we happy with a D next year of the following and which would we rather see.

I think this is the season we see either A Mart or Ellerby dealt (though my guess is that it is A Mart surprise which is a shame). Either we will get WM back or he goes on LTIR. We will give VV his raise so it comes down to Scuds or Willie.

Willie is skating a little bit here and there and stretching so his knee will be ready but that wasn't the only problem so he may "need more time". If that happens he goes LTIR and we have our money. If not we have Willie because there isn't room or cash for both he and Scuderi if we plan on keeping VV which we of course do.

So to me it isn't Scuderi or Regehr, its Scuds or Willie. Of course we don't get to decide that one either but then neither does DL as of today either (or his ability to do so is limited until UFA starts in 7).

Both, but I think Scuds is gonna have one of those meetings with a Brinks truck. Toronto could desperately use a guy like him.

Little off topic (new not sure I can start a thread yet) do you think sending Scuds to Toronto the kings could get someone like Joe Colborne coming back? Would Toronto part with him? Would the kings be intrested? Maybe a 3-4 line center?

Did not realize the jump in salary he had from Pittsburgh to LA.

Figure it'll take at least the same salary to keep him as a King. With the success the team has had with him though, a raise would be in order. If Mitchell's contract goes on LTIR, that opens up some extra money to play with.

Lombardi and Co. are pretty thorough. They signed Regehr already, knowing Scuderi and especially Voynov would still need to be signed. I don't think they would do that blindly, since Regehr hasn't been that great. I would think they have a plan, and so far so good, so, just have to let it play out.

I'm hoping they wouldn't do that blindly. Even if we do get Mitchell back, it's likely just for one year. I think once Forbort fills out he will be a nice addition for us. I would love to be able to get Seth Jones. How about Bernier, Martinez and a pick for Colorado's #1?

They can't afford Mitchell and Scuderi. If LA can drop Mitchell's contract, then the kings could bring him back for a couple years. In 2013 Dustin Brown, and Matt Greene will be free agents. So LA will need money to give them pay raises. Plus the Kings still need sign another Left winger that can score, like Bryan Bickell. And they will need to sign a free agent goalie, to replace Bernier, who will be traded in the offseason. If Carter, Kopitar, and Richards all play center then you can trade Stoll. And that could save the kings some money to sign Scuderi.

Scuds without question, unfortunately i doubt LA can afford him. i think for it to happen he will have give the hometown discount to fit him in.

i dont know the LTIR rules enough, so here is a question i haven't seen yet concerning WM. what if he returns and then goes back down permanently 2 months into the season. can he still be moved to the LTIR? or can this only be done during the summer months?

i pose this scenario because it may be a worst case scenario. if WM returns and only plays for 1-2 months and the knee fails again. LA is now down WM and the salary, not to mention possibly the loss of Scuds over the summer because DL thought WM was ready to go.

Bickell is not the answer to LA's problems at LW. he is this PO's D King most likely. another Kontos. LA needs a consistent scoring LW that can pot 20+ G's a season, not another big grinder. Bickell's body of work is to small to think he is the answer

Its going to be tough to pay Slava and Scuds, but I want them both retained big time. God damn salary cap coming down next year ****ed everything up, and I thought we were in good shape money wise until that happened. We might have to lose Stoll and Penner to keep those 2, which I would probably do if we can have Richards play 3C.

Honestly, I like Stoll...but he is paid too much for what he does. I would like to see him more at the 2.25 mill range. I believe this is the last hurrah for Penner.
