Eh I'd hardly say this tournament has been a good indication of anything so far. The swedish teams didn't really take this tournament that seriously this year, and I would guess the finnish teams didn't either. Hell, Djurgården sent a B/C squad when they played a game that would either make them advance or get kicked out.

Jea they used lots of juniors particularly in group stages and wasnt frölundas last game in b arena with the ice melting farce etc

This was not the year the CHL was going to make people go nuts about it. We'll see in a couple of years how it has developed.

But still o' well, Sweden (and VF!)

You may have beat Kärpät, and that by a very small margin.

But you have not met Jokerit yet (and you'll probably ever will!).
The real powerhouse of Nordic hockey.
They (Jokerit) are doin' really well in the KHL. Top three in their diehard division.

So don't even think for a moment that you are top of the pops in Europe now Västra Frölunda after your win against Kärpät.

Comprende?

Ok guy.

Who would you pick as winner? Luleå or Frölunda?

Sorry if OT :p

I would say Frölunda... they got last minute winner vs HIFK and now hanged in there against Kärpät often times these kind of teams are destined to win.

I think if you stick purely to the quality of the hockey, it's been a pretty good season. Not as defensively strict as the domestic hockey often gets which I like.

I went and watched my first live CHL game tonight in Oulu and I have to say I liked it. I had heard all the complaints of playing to half empty arenas with poor athmosphere and the hockey being much poorer than the games in domestic league but there were lots of people, the hockey was very entertaining and Raksila was rocking. That or it was exciting just because I finally had a chance to see a game live this season.

HAHAHA

ITT Comedy gold from Razamanaz.

Are there actually grown up finnish fans that still pull the "Swedes are just lucky" card?

Like Ingemar Stenmark said:

"It's weird, the more I practice the more luck I seem to have."

It's one of those Swede hatin' finns :D

It's like if an American would say that the US are better at hockey than Canada just because L.A. Kings won the Stanley Cup last year. KHL is a better league than both SHL and Liiga so you don't have to shove it down our throats.

I'd say Luleå (and not SAIK) would suit Frölunda much better, right?

Not really. Their record against SAIK this year is 2 wins 1 regulation loss and a loss in penalty shots. Last year they demolished SAIK away. I wanted SAIK v. Frölunda.

Sucks Liiga lost one of their classic teams but your posts are really pathetic.

Good luck in the future, Kärpät! Two really good and entertaining games. All n' all it was fitting that it ended with a sudden death goal.

Agree. Precisely my words yesterday when talking to a friend of mine. Think the quality of hockey has been pretty consistent throughout the playoffs. The emotions, quality and entertainment level is there. People just need to catch on. As for Frölunda playing in their "B" arena; Floorball WC was held in Scandinavium when they played HIFK. Not sure why the semi game was played in Frölundaborg but I think there was some other event held in Scandinavium during that game as well. I'm not a fan of Frölundaborg but some fans seem to like the classic standing sektions and in general I tend to agree.

SHL is dominating this tournament.

No suprise.

SHL is the best in Europe outside of Russian Propaganda League, no doubt.

But I was surprised how close Finnish teams were after all. HIFK and JyP were close in their quarterfinals and that Kärpät - Frölunda match was pretty much a coin flip.

So I would't say "dominating". ;)

It could have ended very differently, no doubt. But, from what I've seen, Frölunda has been a step above skill-wise.

HIFK's Timo Everi said in (I think) Urheilusanomat that no team made a loss in CHL, teams got their expenses covered and those that got longer in the competition, made profit.

Given everyone involved figured this would be a money loser for at least the first few seasons and it didn't appear to have blockbuster attendance this is surprising to hear. If in fact it's true it's certainly encouraging news for the tournament's future.

That's great news! :handclap: Really exited for next season.
