I don’t think a US court has any jurisdiction in anything to do with the CHL where the majority of the teams are based in Canada and all the three leagues’ management structure is in Canada. Even if it is successful in a US court how could any ruling be enforced in Canada as we are not under the jurisdiction of US law? This appears to another frivolous lawsuit by two disgruntled players that will never go anywhere.

Yeah this one is going nowhere. Drafts are in place to make sure that leagues are competitive. Otherwise you get European football. Same 2-3 teams win the league every year with no hope for the mid to small market teams. Plus if they don't like the CHL team they got selected by, they can always go to the USHL, NAHL, BCHL (as a FA).
I believe these leagues hold a "draft" as well so not sure how they can be stop 1 league from holding a draft but exempt others?

they are suing the chl because there is more money in it for them, but as always, the kids wont get much and the lawyers will get 80 percent of it, not that this will be successful

If they did away with the draft, teams like the Niagara IceDogs would never get any top players. Who knows, maybe the players will win the case and the draft will be abolished. Better sell the IceDogs quick Darren. lol

This lawsuit is not going to go anywhere. Canada is a sovereign country and are not bound by US laws and court decisions. The majority of the teams in the CHL are located in Canada and all three league are as well. There is arguments because they do business in New York State they have jurisdiction but the CHL could simply ignore any decision of a US court because the US court has no way to enforce it in Canada.

Although not black and white you have to remember there is substantial cross border business going on everyday between the 2 countries and lots of laws and agreements between states/provinces that cover each other's laws and policies. It will definitely have some form of impact all be it what that is, is not clear. It also would have an impact on any cross border league that has a draft. I'm sure all pro and amateur leagues are watching this with interest.

I can't see this having any legs but if , and a big if, they win there would definitely be an appeal and the big gun pro leagues would get involved at that point.

what a selfish, frivolous and nonsensical waste of time, money, and resources.

without the parity provided by the draft there would be no point in 10-15 of the OHL organizations even existing because they'd never be competitive.

Unfortunately a lot of kids/people these days are very selfish and entitled. A lot of them think the world revolves around them.
