YupIf that's the suit, I don't see how USA Hockey wins that one.
USA Hockey has been holding off CHL expansion as leverage in protecting the NTDP and in trying to secure its entry into the OHL.

Maybe do a loop thru Western Canada and Quebec a pick up some WHL and Q games also. I am sure it is easiee said than done but if the 18s played a schedule that included 20-30 CHL games, NCAA games, and international competition, it would make it a valuable place to play with the resources able to be offeredHypothetically that could work. The NTDP wouldn't need a league. Could just be its own thing. If say they work out a deal to do 2 games with each OHL team (assume 22 teams, home and home) that's 44 games. That wouldn't be too taxing on the schedule for OHL teams. They get a hand full of NCAA games too so that brings them to like 50ish games in a season plus tournaments. Plenty of game time. Wouldn't be the worst set up.

It's no different than any other flight NTDP takes. The cost won't be a factor for NTDP.Travel through the Dub would add way more costs and the CHL teams would want money in order to schedule "exhibition" games in the middle of the season, further adding to costs.
Best bet is keeping it within the OHL for 20 or so games.

Nobody has an unlimited budget. But they are flush with money. They fly multiple times a year. The NTDP doesn't have an unlimited budget. The program has to be mindful of costs and costs could be contained if they can get the required number of games through the OHL. The real question is the OHL willing to play ball???
They're close to Erie & could slide into the Midwest Division fairly easily. Not sure about facilities and moneyDoes Youngtown have the facilities, money , location to actually join OHL?

I've been to the Covelli Center multiple times. It's usually a half empty barn but has some loyal fans. Best atmosphere was for the 2018 Clark cup vs Fargo. The seating bowl is actually quite good and not a bad seat per say, the arena area itself is very easy to get in/out of. The sound system will for sure need upgraded, when the PA announcer comes on it's almost deafening when he screams Phantoms on the power play.Capacity wise yes, but facility, from what I've heard, can use an upgrade. Location is fine but money? Well, the current owner is quite wealthy and I'm sure he's willing to incur six figure losses but for how long?
Just imagine what Hockey Canada would do if two teams wanted to leave the WHL.Why would USA Hockey approve another country’s league (where they have essentially zero influence and control) trying to raid their country for two teams?
You’d have to be insane to sit by and let that happen.
Or what would they do if players decide to play in the BCHL or USHL or NCAA?Just imagine what Hockey Canada would do if two teams wanted to leave the WHL.
They already cut Wood, and didn't invite Hage or Boisvert. But hey the US is the idiots always playing politics.Or what would they do if players decide to play in the BCHL or USHL or NCAA?
Almost like they might not get invited to the national team.

Players in the BCHL are not eligible for any national team per IIHF rulesOr what would they do if players decide to play in the BCHL or USHL or NCAA?

Yeah, and Russia isn’t eligible to play per IIHF rules, even though USA and Canada haven’t been banned when they’ve perpetrated wars.Players in the BCHL are not eligible for any national team per IIHF rules
Hockey Canada could not stop a Canadian city from getting a USHL team. They could stop the team from simply switching leagues (because the players are Hockey Canada players, they would all require release from Hockey Canada, etc) because that would open up one heck of a can of worms.Just imagine what Hockey Canada would do if two teams wanted to leave the WHL.
You realize that the BCHL players are banned by a rule that has existed since the inception of the IIHF? This is not an apples and oranges situation. The Russian/Belarus ban is a choice, whereas the BCHL ban was caused by a decision that the BCHL made.Yeah, and Russia isn’t eligible to play per IIHF rules, even though USA and Canada haven’t been banned when they’ve perpetrated wars.
I don’t care about the IIHF rules. The IIHF is run by a lackey of Hockey Canada. Notice how BCHL players weren’t banned before recently.
That’s hiding behind a technicality. You realize that the BCHL players are banned by a rule that has existed since the inception of the IIHF? This is not an apples and oranges situation. The Russian/Belarus ban is a choice, whereas the BCHL ban was caused by a decision that the BCHL made.
In the end USA Hockey will not be able to stop it. The only question is does USA Hockey want to take this to the bitter end?Why would USA Hockey approve another country’s league (where they have essentially zero influence and control) trying to raid their country for two teams?

Hockey Canada cannot force BCHL to be sanctioned. This was the BCHL's decision. That’s hiding behind a technicality.
There’s nothing stopping Hockey Canada from inviting players to a summer training camp. The IIHF isn’t going to sanction them if they do. It’s a political decision to not invite these players. It’s to punish them for playing outside of the Hockey Canada umbrella.
And let’s be real, if Hockey Canada wanted to invite these players to these tournaments and they wanted the BCHL to be a sanctioned league they would be. What does even being nonsanctioned mean? And why should that mean their players aren’t allowed to play for the National Team? That’s absurd.
