There are probably around a dozen or so 19 year old players that are ready to play and develop for a full season in the AHL. There are less than half a dozen 18 year old players who can do the same. A hybrid model that the CHL is proposing is probably the best way forward for most players.

U-Sports will most certainly have to change their recruiting practices.
I think that's being very optimistic. I'd put that number closer to 4 or 5 (from the CHL specifically).

Elliotte Friedman saying that the CHL voted to add two USHL teams to the OHL, but USA Hockey has to approve it per the IIHF rules and they declined to do so.

Exactly what I suggested this would turn into and some here told me was crazy.

You can’t just try to take two teams from another league and expect it’ll be a smooth process.

I mentioned in the OHL thread but if USA hockey really doesn’t want to budge there is the nuclear option. Owners could just fold the USHL franchises. They would control the rights to the buildings. OHL could just award those cities expansion slots. USHL would be SOL as there aren’t alternate arenas in those cities to play in. Now of course that burns all bridges between the two governing bodies. See if this is the option taken or if the OHL just slides USA hockey a pile of money to change their mind.

As I mentioned previously, I was really really hoping that the OHL would deny both their bids to join. The fact that the league accepted both of them now opens the door to a whole world of nastiness to come through. One of the ownership groups already despises USA Hockey and the other, after putting in millions of dollars in renovation will be seeking compensation. This, unfortunately, is not over by any means.

Another Big10 program collecting commits...

Pretty much this and I want to say a rare few instead of some as the other poster suggested.

U-sports is irrelevant as they don't have the money behind them like the NCAA does.

Did he say CHL or OHL because the difference is massive. The OHL would take them in a heartbeat but the QMJHL and WHL would object to them transferring poached players

Or, I don’t know, don’t try to imperialize another league.

Read again, more carefully, not what you want to read lol.

Even before Jeff Marek ……

The 2 teams approached the League before the season started.
Okay well I’ve never heard of the person who wrote the article.

Even if I took this at face value, I don’t see why you’d attempt to leave a league without an exit plan. They’d have to have known this would happen and they’d have created a no-win situation for themselves, so I highly doubt that’s how it went.

The old trust me bro,

I’m sure they did. Never was a topic until OHL publicly stated they’re going to try to expand into the USA immediately.

I gave a reasoning and you as you typically do twist words around. Nothing more to discuss here with people who are unwilling to engage in good faith.
Exactly, you were shown to be wrong, and didn’t want to believe or acknowledge it,
so replied with a response about Marek, that was totally wrong again,
After that gets pointed out, comes back with well it makes no sense. So likely didn’t happen 🤣.
You’ve demonstrated some of those same traits through-out the thread, with others.
Cheers
