Jordan reads about the effort against the Coyotes.

Skinner realises he has almost twice the points of the first line, combined.

Gerbe, P.I., chilling with a redhead.

The theme: this game will be a classic work of art.

This is what I'd do:

Ruutu Staal Semin
Gerbe Staal Tlusty
Dwyer Skinner Dvorak
Sutter Nash Westgarth

I'm not a big fan of playing so many wingers on their off side.

Solid work, but why is this up a day early?

Oh, and that Staal picture has me laughing every time I look at it.

I was (also) just thinking Hainsey/Murphy 2nd pair may be the way to go. Defensively, it's less than ideal, but the 2nd pair has been playing a lot with the top line, and the godawfulness of Bellemore with the puck is a detriment a line that is already struggling doesn't need.

The only 2 people who seem to start breakouts from our own zone are Sekera and Murphy. Otherwise, it takes 4 players, and then finally when it does get out, it's one forward dumping it in, and then chasing after it by himself.

They need to be hitting the opposing blueline with 2 or 3 at a time, and with some speed.

Westgarth gets a fighting hat trick, Rutherford collapses to the floor of the press box and has a seizure as a result. Resigns as GM due to health reasons, Ron Francis takes over. Strategic victory Carolina.

the neutral zone was a problem last year and again this season. that's where teams are preventing them from entering the zone without the old dump and chase routine. there is no offense because there is no possession (they lose possession and can't set up) and the forwards are usually starting out from deep in the D-zone from executing the "total team defense" scheme IMO. any D breaking out has noone to pass to so they carry and dump. no O plan.

and the forwards are gassed by the time they move up ice repeatedly.

This has definitely been an issue and was quite noticeable against both LA and Phoenix, who were stacking up at their own blue line to force dump-ins.

so it appears that Ruutu may be on the top line and Tlusty on the second according to practise. it is NOT Jiri's fault that line isn't producing right now and he is not playing poorly. I don't mind Ruutu there but juggling lines in games and prior to, is indicative of failed systems and not knowing what to do to counter. last resort moves usually. panic.

I know it's the easiest thing to blame players and for Muller it's a job saver that everyone buys into it seems. there's another team on the ice and if you think Jiri's not producing because he is playing the ***** or that last year was an anomoly, watch how they block Jiri from receiving passes from Semin. Staal is being blocked too. Semin holds the puck and dangles looking to pass until he is forced to shoot or give the puck up by just dumping it to the net or corner. he is passing to the D more as well. teams are effectively shutting this line down and Muller continues to have them run set plays. heck, Forslund mentioned something of the sort last game.

secondary scoring is great and needed but Muller's "new" brilliant system has effectively stifled the top line. without them scoring they lose. period. they are not dogging it. they are doing what all players do and that's do what the coach tells them to. same goes for special teams that master Muller has been orchestrating to no avail.

this team has the pieces to do well but until Muller holds himself accountable they will continue to lose. soon he'll lose the room. book it. Eric is pissed already and not at himself.

I agree with you Rocky, it's not Jiri's fault. It's Eric Staal's and Alexander Semin's fault that the line is not producing right now.

This will surely upset the hockey gods. You know what happened the last time a GDT went up the day before?? Khudobin got injured. That can only mean Skinner is next. :scared:

But honestly, I lol'd.
