Just isn’t room for Phillips (01). Season is over half over. Fell behind Vlasic (01), Kaiser (02), Allan (03) all of whom play on left side. Then you have Korchinski (04) who was a high pick and will need nhl opportunity next season. You’d also like to see what you have with Del Mastro (03) will be in the last year of his elc next year. Phillips was already post ELC and a waiver clear. On right side, Crevier (01) is in same contract situation as Phillips and got a call up and has played pretty well. Rinzel (04) is probable to sign following his college season and then of course Levshunov (05) was a very high pick.

There was just no way he was going to be signed and a super low likelihood that something would happen between now and end of season that would cause that to be thought about differently. Probably a little bit of a do right by if there’s a shot there with Winnipeg based on injuries. He does have a shot to be a 6/7 defenseman in a 200-300 game nhl carer as he doesn’t 24 until September. It just wasn’t going to be so in Chicago.
Seems like a good trade for both teams. Kuzmin showed some potential early in the Young Stars tournament, but his game is largely seen as high event.

Moose have struggled on defense this year with the returning faces not including Heinola or Capobianco and their best prospect Salomonsson being injured.

The veteran of the defense is Ashton Sauntner, an AHL contract playing closer to home. The lack of left hand d-prospects and Kuzmin being inconsistent has led to several RH d-man playing their offside this year.

Should help stabilize the Moose, as Dylan Coghlan seems to be an injury away from recall again. And their captain Toninato has been recalled, and might get an extended stay as a familiar teammate of many of the players in the Jets dressing room.

I noticed Phillips wore an A for Rockford so a little bit of leadership on a struggling team that has made some strides in the new year might be valuable over here.

Any ideas what to expect in Phillips? Seems like he is a physical defenseman?

I'm a fan of Isaak Phillips' game although his development the last couple of years has stunted.

I think you are a little confused, the Blackhawks traded Phillips to the Jets he is in no way an NHL defenseman for a half decent team.
I was trying to frame it up as Phillips being an AHL D thats closer the to NHL than the ECHL, while Kuzmin is an AHL D thats probably closer to the ECHL than NHL.
