Given that Lafferty is a depth player, this doesn't really bother me... although at this point I question Nylander's upside. But gamble wise... yeah it's probably something I'd do.

Kyle Davidson really doesn't want to shed that interim tag

I am really confused for why Chicago did this. Lafferty stinks, he has 3 goals in his last 90 games and does nothing except for throw hits and take stupid penalties.

This seems like Chicago giving up a scratch off lottery ticket for a bag of day old McDonald's from the dumpster.

Agreed lol

Maybe Chicago thinks Lafferty has potential with his speed? No clue why they do this.

Good gamble for the Pens to flip one of their many 4th liners into someone who might have some upside.

Lafferty is honestly as athletically talented as they come but lacks the brain.

Nylander prob won’t amount to anything, I bet Sully isn’t gonna love him… but nice to have some more skill.

Saw "[PIT/CHI] Sa..." and ran in here hoping for Pat Kane to the penguins

Nylander is a lottery ticket on top of the 7-11 ash tray already scratched off with no winnings

Put me down as someone who didn't see Nylander as much of anything at all in my AHL viewings of him. I guess a switch might flip someday.

Haven't watched Nylander at all, so I can't comment much on him, or on CHI in general. But I can see some appeal to Lafferty as a depth player with speed and who plays a gritty game, who can play all 3 F positions, although looking over CHI's roster, I'm not sure what Lafferty brings that CHI doesn't already have... but meh w/e. And given that Nylander really is a wild card, I can see why CHI moved on from him - assuming CHI has an actual legitimate need for a depth player who's likely to never be anything more then a 12-14F. No brainer why PIT is doing this... a throw away depth player who is easily replaceable internally for someone with talent and questionable upside (meh risk (when considering what they gave up) for a high reward return).

That said... I just hope that it doesn't impact Zohorna's chances at another shot with the big club. Was really impressed by him last season. Now hopefully Alex can take a few more steps in his development and become a real asset... although I'm not really holding my breath, but who knows.

Does Nylander have locker-room issues or is he just not wanted

His dad is known for being something of a meddler, but his biggest issue is how soft he is. Nylander is the softest player I've ever seen suit up for the Sabres. Contributes absolutely nothing outside of his limited offense.

Lafferty always struck me as a pretty big dude with good wheels who was nothing if not a pain in the ass when he played Washington. Maybe Chicago wants more sandpaper. Nylander has more upside but probably not as suited to an energy role if he’s not in a scoring role.

Or he's just a soon to be 24 year old that is currently a half point a game player in the AHL who does not have the all around game to contribute effectively at the NHL level? His value is non existent.
