With Morgan Frost again in Torts doghouse it seems inevitable a split will come between him and organization

So, I think a deal that would make sense

To :hawks
C Morgan Frost (RFA after this year)
Hurricanes 2025 5th round pick (Prev acquired by Flyers)

To :flyers
Leafs 2026 2nd round pick (Prev acquired by Hawks)

Hawks desperately need C help with Nazar being slow walked to AHL by organization and other kids a few years away at best (Boisvert, Moore, etc). Frost is still young and has proven he is capable #2/#3 C at NHL level. Hawks roll dice he is better fit here and can get his game back on track without the specter of Torts over him. Hawks have three 2026 2nd rounders so moving one for established NHL talent to improve roster isn't a terrible use of one of them. And Hawks recoup 5th round pick (They have no 5th rounder in this year's draft) in deal as well

Flyers move on from Frost and acquire a 2026 2nd rounder in process giving them two 2026 2nd round picks. Moving what will be late 5th from Canes doesn't hurt them with the bevy of picks they have in this years draft (Including own 5th rounder)

Thoughts?

If I’m the Flyers I wait until he hits his annual mid-to-late season heater and then flip him at the deadline. May be able to get a higher 2nd than the Leafs’ and not have to give up an additional 5th. With Philly’s absolute dearth of center depth I can’t see them totally giving up on him at this point in the season unless they have an offer that’s a clear overpay.

Frost is in the final year of his contract and would be eligible to become a UFA in 2026, so 1 more year to go. If Philly doesn't think it will ultimately work out with Frost, they probably would move him at some point as he could do a 1 year arbitration deal to hit ufa in 2026 this off-season.

Not sure on the value in your proposal. But, under the circumstances, I think Philly would be open to moving him at some point.

2nd round pick is an overpayment
Definitely from the Flyers perspective. I know it is not Fletcher as GM anymore, but I have no faith in the Flyers to get ANY value for Frost. I'd be surprised if the Flyers get anything higher than a 3rd round pick. Of course if they played him and let him get points and not bench him all the time they might get something for him, but with Torts, the idea is to make it clear the player has no value before trading him. For a team that is not competitive, I don't see why the team can't just lose WITH Frost in the lineup vs. lose with him out of the line up.
