Interesting, I didn't know that.

Like pick number 34th?(35th) or something very early 2nd round so it's right at that range.

He had a ton of draft hype from his stickwork highlights and videos and another super skilled guy who may not be able to put it together on the ice... Though he looked to be solidly coming along his 1st two years, don't know what difference the Babcock/Bashill uses of him had other than just the teams being much more talentless

In regards to the trade, I would have preferred a 4th over a 3rd but if Jurco clicks he could be a decent middle 6 player with speed for the Hawks. Similar situation to Panik.

I don't understand how he could get a 3rd rounder for Jurco, I just don't get it. Jedi mind tricks?

I am not shocked you don't know this but Stan Bowman was in charge of Hockey Operations when most of those players were drafted.

And? What's your point? It doesn't change anything I just said. The GM has more control and the last say. He's the guy that deserves the credit. People below him matter to a small degree. Bowman hasn't proven he's a very good GM, so why would I give him any credit for being in charge of hockey operations during that time?

Well for whatever reason he didn't work out for Detroit even though he started off looking promising so this deal is a win for the wings in that they add a pick to help with the retool / rebuild.

For the Hawks they get a player that has really struggled but looks like he could still be a bottom 6 forward for the hawks if he is able to get back to his game. All they gave up was a 3rd in a weak draft year (or expected weak draft year).

It's both. The team on the ice isn't as good as it appears in the standings. And the management for the most part hasn't been that great. There are a few moves I give them credit for making, but as a whole? They've been pretty bad. Slurping off of previous GM's talent.

Cool. I wish the Kings weren't "as good as it appears in the standings", aka on pace for 108 points. Unfortunately, we really suck as much as it appears.

We'll take some of that mediocre, plz.:)

Yeah, according to that logic the entire NHL is mediocre or terrible. Maybe the KHL is the best league after all?

Similar to the Yakupov trade, if it doesn't work out then oh well not a big deal.

Yakupov scored 17 goals in his first 48 games, Jurco's NHL career goal total hasn't yet matched that at 159 games and counting, Yak is a better gamble than Jurco.

Hawks could win the Cup again this year and that guy will still be complaining about something.

At least you'll have a better draft pick and be closer to a rebuild rather than being the same treadmill every year. The Hawks are going to mooch off the same recipe until they finally realize this core is finished winning cups. Not sure how many years it's going to take.

Pulk, Frk, Marchenko, Jurco: What could have been.

I remember when all 4 had a lot of hype and hope attached to them - like they could possibly be the ones to keep the streak alive.

There was a video on nhl.com during his draft year where it showed Jurco doing a bunch of dekes and fancy stickwork. Like really impressive stuff. I thought he would turn into something

You clearly don't understand how teams are structured but who here is shocked by that? The D of Hockey Ops and their team give the GM their recommendations and then the GM goes from there. All of the meat and potatoes scouting is done by the Hockey Ops team and not the GM. The GM tends to work more on the Pro Scouting side for trades and what not.

Can't you pick another team to fake cheer for? Honestly EVERYONE knows what you are doing.

I'm fine with this. Stan is betting Jurco finds his game in Slovak heaven. Our bottom six has been a black hole of offense this year.

Sounds just like the type of player that doesn't turn into anything (unless he's a Patrick Kane type #1 overall guy)

Linus Omark was similarly hyped for a while too

You are always convinced the Blackhawks are done winning Cups.

You said in 2015 after Michal ****ing Rozsival went down to injury vs. the Wild, that the Blackhawks had absolutely no chance of beating the Ducks.
