I actually really like Byram, and I think its a good target for Chicago, just a bit of a steep price.

They gotta do more though, can't just stop there. Ideally another Top 4 D and an upgrade at middle 6C.

Here's another one... Its funny how Chicago originally passed on Byram in 2019, now they are acquiring him all these years later... they really shouldn't have rushed Dach he actually could've been a really good player for them imo. Alas..

Always felt they botched Dach though I watched a lot of him and Cozens in that draft year and came away slightly underwhelmed with both.

When Byram is on, it's awesome. He moves so well and jumps into or leads the rush or can control the entire offensive zone with his mobility. He's got a little pesky mean streak, will occasionally lay a hit on the unsuspecting, and has a quality shot that he gets on net in a variety of ways. It's when he has control disconnect moments that can be worrying, though now he's gets what he has said he wanted since leaving the Avs - to be THE GUY. I think he'll thrive at it and it will be him popping out 60-ish point seasons (perhaps even more with a functional powerplay).

That's fine, but that's all he ever would have been in Buffalo because he isn't taking Dahlin's spot. He wants 10m plus. We can't be paying our 3rd or arguably 4th best D man 10m a year to get 40 points and play on the 2nd pp unit. So he had to go, and we got crazy value for him.

I am not against them moving him, I agree he wasn't moving up their depth chart, just seems like you would want something in the NHL now as Buffalo is now trying to win.

It can be both. It's also a terrible FA class.

IIRC there hasn't been a top 10 pick traded pre-draft in the three drafts before this. You don't think that the quality of this one has anything to do with the trades we've seen this week? Hope springs eternal for fans but there's lots of scouts not very high on this class generally.

Could be being the key qualifier here. Even Stenberg and McKenna have some significant flaws that might hold them back from being stars.
I’m surprised Buffalo was able to dump Greenway too. Buffalo’s GM did well today.

He’s worth at least what Power makes. I’d say 8 x $10mm would be the number. $8mm is definitely too low. He’d easily fetch more as a UFA.

Byram just turned 25 a few days ago. That’s it. Even an 8 year deal won’t run much past his prime.
I would not have wanted to pay Byram what Power makes. People are eventually gonna learn how good Power is and how he makes all his D partners look good.

Power is a good player but he’s overrated by the Buffalo fan base. Like Byram, he’s coming off a good 65% of a season.

But there is a lot of less than impressive Power play on film over the past few seasons. He definitely hasn’t been consistently good.

The team played really well last year for about 70% of the season. I wonder if they’ll keep that up or not. Power may maintain it. Maybe not.

Bedard's skating improved so much this offseason I was curious how he did it.

Then he said he spent time training with Celebrini and it all Made sense. Celebrini is so good at elevating everyone and helping them take that next step. If Bedard can learn that aspect of elevating teammates from Celebrini, he will be trouble in a year or two.
That avatar is dirty, I thought there was an eyelash on my phones screen.
